    Your stock is rising Aussies!

From pitchmen on TV to naturalists who tried to feed his kids to alligators to "great" steak houses to purveyors of fine hair products. Australia seems to be in vogue right now, and we have a slew of new-ish Australian actors who are flooding our big screens to show for it!

Joining Nicole Kidman (not new) and Mel Gibson (not new) are new-to-semi-new actors: Eric Bana, Sam Worthington, Heath Ledger, Portia de Rossi. I'm sure there are more that I've missed.

    It must be the accent!

Lots of Aussies manage to hide behind a reasonable American accent, too.

Another one is Anthony LaPaglia, lead in Without a Trace.

How about Hugh Jackman, Russel Crowe [originally from New Zealand], Anna Torv, Yvonne Strzechowski, Poppy Montgomery [also in Without a Trace, she's the blond] and Toni Collette?

What makes a back gorgeous, in particular?

I'm wondering whether I have a gorgeous back now.

No, thankfully not but it's written all over your person. Unless you swim laps or something. No.

There is a scene in F/X where they show him from the back, he's at a particularly good angle in that scene and you can see the perfect line of his nude back, its symmetrically and artistically perfect

its the kind of pose that has you reaching for a charcoal stick.

    Ah, Sir Les Patterson.
The man who did to the Anglo-Australian relationship what napalm did for shrubbery.

You can add Tom Hardy to the list also. He's been cast to replace Mel Gibson in the upcoming Mad Max sequel(which is a terrible move by the way). What intrigues me is hearing guys like Eric Bana during interviews talking in a deep Australian accent. It's astounding that he sounds so authentically American in his movies.

Frakk! and I forgot one of my ALL TIME faves: Cate Blanchett.

Damn. Now that I think of it, there's a full on invasion going on. Why weren't we allerted?

But really, pound for pound, I think Aussies punch higher above their weight in Hollywood than Canadians and Brits.

Seriously, is there a strong art culture down-under?

How'd I miss Jackman, Crow and Torv (I LOVE Fringe).

Damn, Rush is from Oz too?

The "v" shape. Plus, seeing some muscles helps.
