http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/995466.html This pretty much sums up my own personal experiences in Israel, and experiences of Israeli expatriates who lived there as adults. A note to all the absolutists: I (and the above study) didn't say there are -no- problems. There are serious problems everywhere, even here in Canada. What I say is that Arabs in Israel are not abused as many of their co-religionists in other countries fear. All that a person who doubts this has to do is to visit Israel and see for themselves. I also didn't say that Arabs have -always- enjoyed living in Israel. But despite their so-called bretheren in neighbouring countries trying for decades to destroy the state, and despite some of the Arab population over the years aligning themselves with the PLO, Hizballah and Hamas, despite their alleged representatives in the Israeli parliament being very enflaming and outrageously hostile to Israel, and even despite the recent intifadah that never really ended, after 60 years of living together things are looking good.
Yeah, like the Brahmins under the British, who were educated in Oxford. What do these Israeli Arabs think of this? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7136068.stm Also, are they allowed to live in Jewish settlements? Do they get building permits in occupied Palestine like Jews do? Can they live in any one of the 40,000 new houses planned in Jerusalem?
SAM why did you have to do that i am guess otheadp was shooting for a positive tone and you had to crap on that.
You mean we should ignore the racist nature of Israeli Jews and their policies because Israeli Arabs are happy not being refugees and bombed every day? Is Israel offering the right of return to all Palestinians? I'm sure that would make all of them happy.
Like, we are expected to ignore your raciest nature. SAM you are one of the biggest bigots on the web, hands down, no contest.
Geez, only one language and even that you speak like a first generation immigrant. And thats an insult to immigrants. You occure? Is that a cross between the occult and a cure? And you're very bigoted racists? All your multiple personalities?
Arabs have never had it so good. I wish I was Arab. I would just sit in my air conditioned tent, counting petrodollars, and smoking my hookah all day long. Not to mention the AK-47s on the docks, the peregrine falcons, the 12 year old Iranian and Russian girls Quran style. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I lived there for five years, unless, like an Arab, you are content to lie in the sun and look dreamily on the sky for 365 days of the year, day or night, with only tea and stories for company, it can get dull. They have a strange love for the desert and relish the endless miles of nothing. I used to fall asleep after half an hour of it.
This is good otheadp. But I highly doubt that if I, today, went to Israel, I would be treated as a guest. But it is one step. But we need to get rid of the idiots in charge, in both Israel and the Arab states. We need UNITY. We need leaders with the courage to bring that to the table. I do not want peace with Israel. I want unity.
You would be surprised. People would treat you as the guest of honour. It is very rarely that Israelis get to show to Arabs what they're really like, so if anything they will overcompensate and treat you TOO nicely Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Unfortunately since Israel and Syria are still technically at war, both governments probably restrict their citizens' rights to visit the other country.
Only? Not a dual citizen? Although I suppose dual citizens can neglect to mention the one nationality if necessary.
Can you have dual citizenship with a Muslim country? Indians cannot have it if they are Americans or any other naturalised citizen.
