I know this is a dumb question, but I've always wondered the answer, and how they are legally able to enforce this without violoating some kind of first amendment rights. :m:

View Full Version : Are you really not allowed to say "bomb" on airplanes? SyllacrosticAgnostic 08-21-03, 12:32 PM I know this is a dumb question, but I've always wondered the answer, and how they are legally able to enforce this without violoating some kind of first amendment rights. :m: river-wind 08-21-03, 01:41 PM for the same reason you can't shout "fire" in a crowded theater. The rights to "life, liberty and the persuit of happiness" aplies to each individual citizen, so by you shouting "bomb!" on an airplane, you could cuase a riot, resulting in the possible loss of life of some of the other passengers. So your 1st amendment right is therefore restricted by law for the sake of the the safety of those citizens around you. There was a supreme court case on the the "fire"/theater thing back in the early 1900's, IIRC spuriousmonkey 08-21-03, 01:43 PM Are you then allowed to shout 'idiots' in a classroom? exsto_human 08-21-03, 02:30 PM How about shouting 'fags' in a Redneck Bar?
