http://www.techcentralstation.com/041505D.html From the link: Well, I certainly can't stand the PC thing... so I guess I fall in there. It's interesting though to see this expression. Southpark seems to represent pretty centrist views IMO. At least they seem to provide both sides to whatever issue they tackle. It seems to me that the way they elevate both sides of any issue to the point of absurdity really illuminates the faults and credits of either concern. Either way, I thought it was interesting to see southpark exploited politically... as in my experience they've been able to dodge this particular kind of attention for the most part. Hmm.
Piss off, anyone who doesn't like Southpark...because Southpark is the funniest TV show..ever! ALL HAIL TERRANCE AND PHILLIP! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Thats not really my take on it at all. They seem to pair up the side they dont agree with with some other crazy things, like atheists and eating through your ass, and then go to town. I think the funnyest southparks are the ones that don't take on real social issues, as it has been my observatoin that the southpark conservative is a bit simple minded.
South Park is very centrist, the creators (Matt Stone and Trey Parker) were quoted as saying (This is from Micheal Savage I believe) that they "Make fun of anything and everything in politics" with their reasoning that choosing sides only makes enemies on one or the other, they want both. -Dan
The more savvy columnists are calling South Park what it is: libertarian. The shorthand definition of "libertarian" is "socially liberal and economically conservative." More formal definition is: People must have the right to do anything they want so long as it causes no direct harm to others. Government exists solely at the whim of the people to supply services which they agree are necessary but they can't perform themselves. That pretty well sums up Parker & Stone's philosophy. They've even agreed with that in interviews.
