Just curious. My husband and I were thinking about joining at some point and I'd like to hear about experiences anyone may have had. Thanks... :m: Peace.
peace corp? wasnt that the eqaully disgraceful US force that was "peacekeeping" in vietnam. if its any US government job then dont do it, do you want to be froced to kill civilians and burn villages all the while taking abuse from your own and the defenders, not to mention getting killed for an unjust and illegal cause
Hahahaha, peace corps doesn't burn villages! My girlfriends mom joined the peace corps, I think she spent two years in Thailand. They sent her to Thai language school for a while until she was proficient enough to get around Thailand. She has lots of good storeys about her experience. I hear joining peace corps is really worth it! Best of luck to you!
the peace corps is as far as i have heard a second wave of US military that stays in "occupied" villages to ensure that no-one is able to free their comrades unjustly being held in US torture camps
Thank you OscarPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Vslayer, there are a lot of things I don't agree with in regards to the US Government, but the Peace Corps is different. It is one of the positive things (and believe it or not there are a fewPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image!) this country has going for it.
but with the american warmongering at the moment, joinig the "peace corps" will put you in the middle of an unjust war, where you will most likely be killed, and why wolud you want to die for america
The Peace Corps is a branch of the US Federal Government. They send you to other countries to help tackle issues such AIDS awareness, environmental issues, setting up small businesses, teaching in schools, teaching computer skills to adults and setting up technology centers, etc... You are paid a monthly stipend and they cover your room and board "comparable" to the type of environment the local citizens are living in. If you have student loans, they will defer those as well, and they give you $6000 upon returning to the US to "adjust" to returning to the US and get yourself re-established. You basically get paid shit for committing 2 years of your life, but you get a "rich" experience.
