Whatever the answer, I'm willing to disagree.

I've been argumentative for as long as I can remember. It even goes so far as arguing with people I agree with on a topic. That is, I'll either play devil's advocate or I will nitpick everything they say for precision just to show that my reasoning on the subject is superior to their reasoning. It's not arrogance, it's just that I get some sort of kick out of pissing people off.

Just make sure you don't do that to friends

There's a world of difference between "innocent" and "not guilty."

I don't know if that idea is fascinating or just too horrible to contemplate...

With friends I am more careful about how I do it. With acquaintances, I do it all the time because I have no "connection" with them I fear I might sever. With strangers, I have no interest in arguing with them unless we have a certain situation in common.

Maybe... but you're not as lazy as I am... so that reduces the odds

I tend to bait them with specific questions then confound them with logic and reasoning, very similarly to how an attorney cross-examines a witness.

I get a kick out of pushing the buttons of people who really, really deserve it. If you're nice and cool to me, I'm that way right back. However, say something or act totally stupid/bitchy/aloof/unfriendly/condescending and it's on. I'll go out of my way to get you wound up; and much like Alan Shore from the show Boston Legal, I will take cheap shots, don't play fair. His argumentative style is pretty dang close to my style too.

Besides, given what this site is about and the often controversial subjects we discuss, you almost have to be argumentative to survive here.

No you don't. You get all emotional and lose your temper.

I have always questioned things. My Mom (and minister) considered it argumentative because I just couldn't leave it alone.
I didn't learn to stand my ground til I became a Mom.

It's just who I am. If I don't agree I can't sit back and say nothing.

I used to be more argumentative in my personal relationships but let a lot more petty stuff slide now.

Also when you talk to men too long it just goes in one ear and out the other ear anyway so what's the point. Am I right Baron?
