View Full Version : Are Jedi vegetarians?
Plazma Inferno! 01-10-07, 09:38 AM I was always wandering about nutrition of Jedi Knights. What keeps Force inside of them alive and strong? Meat or vegetables? Or both?
Meat is logical option, because of high-energy value. Meat is important to keep Jedi vital and prepared for hard tasks throughout galaxy.
Otherwise, perfect balance of midi-chlorian count in their blood could be perturbed with proteins and fat from meat. And midi-chlorians are, as we know, responsible for Force strength within each Jedi.
Not to mention bad cholesterol and digestive problems, that Jedi could face by meat consuming.
Just imagine gastritis attack after somersault during the battle. Also, what’s sake of lightsaber, if Jedi cannot activate it with his sclerotic fingers?
So, I’m somewhat closer to the conviction that Jedi prefer vegetables, both raw and cooked.
What do you think my dear SF friends?
Are Jedi enjoying in nibble of Endor’s roots slightly cooked in melted Hoth snow or in a greedy gnaw of juicy kebab made of one of Jar Jar Binks relatives?
And of course…
May Food be with you… Always!
Ayodhya 01-10-07, 05:42 PM I would say that their survival training would expect them to eat whatever they could considering the situation.
Do Jedi work out?
If they do, they would probably need meat as a source of protein.
Nothing in their doctrine would seem to indicate any dogmatic view of vegetarianism.
Prince_James 01-10-07, 09:12 PM Jedis might eat meat, but Mace Windu doesn't touch no swine.
As I recall in the movie the heroes have been to the sewage...and the sewage did not have much of organic substance...so I am guessing Jedi eat some sort of conserved food.
glaucon 01-10-07, 11:30 PM Hate to tell you... but there's no such thing as Jedi's.
It's fiction guy....

Uhh.. no. That's incorrect.
And god.. is a mythological concept.
Wake up.

If the force is so powerful, wouldn't they be able to eat feces or dirt and just "transmute" the molecules into nutrients ?
Maybe only your Yoda types can do that...
Didn't look like there was too much that was edible - or at least appetizing - on "Planet Swamp-Gas" where he lived.
;)
TW Scott 01-11-07, 12:49 AM Actually a typical swamp has tons of native species of both plant and animal that are both tasty and nutritious, provided you know what to avoid.
Jedi's are emphatically omnivorous as Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Luke have all shown in both book and movie. In fact it seems the only vegetarians in Star Wars are along species lines.
Prince_James 01-11-07, 05:34 AM Plus meat is f'in delicious.
Nikelodeon 01-11-07, 05:37 AM Especially raw, and dripping with blood.

Oh no!
Don't tell me that there is no Santa also! :(
spuriousmonkey 01-11-07, 08:05 AM Santa is for real. And he is a Jedi.
Plazma Inferno! 01-11-07, 10:51 AM Huh... Thanks!

Hapsburg 01-12-07, 03:00 PM I was always wandering about nutrition of Jedi Knights. What keeps Force inside of them alive and strong? Meat or vegetables? Or both?
Probably depends on the species. Many races are force-sensitive, and some are uniformly so.
smile_on_a_rainyday 01-12-07, 04:18 PM veggie jedi????
...i cant work out if people on this thread are being serious or not....

Buffalo Roam 01-12-07, 11:29 PM Steak Tartar, and Wild Cat to, red meat on the menu, a little salt and pepper, food for the Gods.
On the subject of jedi... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jedi_census_phenomenon
I guess they really aren't ficticious!
Lordznebula5 10-06-08, 10:46 PM Jedi knights are NOT vegan. They eat red flesh, raw fish, insects and fruits. They prefer sprouts, nuts, fungi and leafy greens (greens are for the ability to relate to others). But stick with slightly steamed spinach since lettuce be a sedative. Then minimal root veggies.
For allowing alertness and energy promotion only comes from the dopamine. The dopamine only comes from enough protein from flesh consumption. The protein from veggies is too weak.
To be alert someone needs enough dopamine (feel alert) and DHEA (high enthusiasm).
The carbs increase seratonin and act as a sedative. Sadly the carbohydrates and proteins are endlessly competing to outdo each other. For the dopamine to win the protein must stay high and avoid excess carbohydrates. The carbs are sedating from baked goods and breads and milks or dairy are most sedating as opposed to the more neutral carbs so from veggies.
So a plate of leg of lamb (flesh of choice) and a side of almonds and rice. A side salad of spinach.
Herbs whole are the second power. Rhodiola rosea has been said to have super energizing power. So has Kudzu (that vine that grows up trees or takes over entire house be perfectly edible).
Excess green tea can give anemia.
Rice does have exceptional star burst neutral non sedating energy.
I think nightshade family (tomatoes & potatoes eggplant) are sedating. The nightshade family gives more arthritis worsening effects.
The third power be proper food combining. Milk and flesh just doesn't mix right.
May the force be with you all.
Lord Vasago 10-08-08, 06:12 PM What a Jedi eats is relavant to his species don't you think. As a Jedi doesn't believe in a higher being and doesn't worship anyone or anything it is really up to his race.
Humans are one of the few species on earth that could adapt totally to his enviroment and eat anything. Hell we could survive on treebark if we have too.
logically there would be Jedi's who only eat meat while others are vegitarian.
phlogistician 10-09-08, 05:14 AM Otherwise, perfect balance of midi-chlorian count in their blood could be perturbed with proteins and fat from meat.
Oh dear, another example of Lucas ruining the story.
In Star Wars, Alec Guinness delivers a nice, poetic description of 'The Force', and it needs nothing more.
Then, in 'The Phantom Crapfest' suddenly there's a blood test for it. Totally ruining the mystique.
Oh yeah, while I'm having a Star Wars rant, jar Jar frikking Binks and Greedo shooting first. George Lucas, you're an A-Hole.
PS, I'm a Jedi, as stated on the 'Religion' section of the last census form I filled out. Apparently, there are 40,000 Jedi in the UK.
Hellblade8 10-09-08, 03:49 PM Hey, guess what Lucas also said? That the whole story is about the "tragedy" of Darth Vader.
My God he must be smoking the same stuff that the Voyager and Enterprise writing staff was.

I'll agree of the Voyager level of intoxication but even Keith Richards hasn;t done enough drugs to have written Enterprise
Lordznebula5 10-14-08, 08:38 PM Barleys a cool grain that provides the most long lasting energy out of all grains for the blood sugar support. and of course oatmeal. I just don't think anyone eats enough nuts top support the function of their nuts; If you get the meaning. So I go write up a tangent [sermon] to help out.
I understand and support many of the findings of Dr. Peter D'Adamo of blood type based diets. Look him up. www.dadamo.com/
Jedi's eat whatever they won't throw up. Aha there's more wisdom.
darksidZz 10-15-08, 12:03 AM I can just see a Jedi slashing apart some sorta large animal and eating it. Remember how luke cut open that camal thing in empire strikes back and began eating it's flubber blubber? Oh wait he didn't eat that I just wanted to see him try it lol

Okay, grandpa, you know you are supposed to take your meds, right?
Jedi will eat meat. After all, they use meat for survival in the fifth movie.
