I'd like to start by saying I quite like Samcdkey. You're very fun, cool and nice, but what made me first notice you was they way you delt with muslim/arab issues. I have no problems with your post's though, allthough at times they stretch the truth, contain inaccuracies and\or degenerate into propaganda.

This board at one time was like a tabloid rag, mainly due to a small number of users flooding it with bs, whereas now it seem's to be more realistic and honest.

The few that come to mind (as far as posters I "look up to"): Fraggle Rocker, invert_nexus, satyr, wesmorris, and Stryder. I am sure I missed a few.

Duendy was the queen of humour, her insults to me were some of the best I've received, as are Ophiolites. The most memorable for sure.

Roman / The Devil Inside: Fucking dolts, both, who never fail to punch below their weight. Both smart enough to make telling contributions to the debates if they could be bothered, but would rather spend their time peeing in their pants, then telling everyone about it (a bit like me, really). Roman goes out of his way to be a dick; aims to upset but it never works, because we know he doesn't mean it. TDI's much more amiable and is clearly just here for laughs (and provides a good percentage of them).

ToR / spuriousmonkey: Arrogant, never concede a point, hate each other with a passion, attack each other on sight, can't see how alike they are. Endless amusement for me watching their exchanges get more bitter and more underhand. Would definitely end up as a couple if they weren't already attached.

Satyr: The spanner in Sciforums' works. Not always as insightful as he thinks, but for the most part a genuine original who winds everyone up a treat. Pop psychology with a large twist of lemon, mmm lovely.

Has anyone mentioned Prince James yet? His posts are some of the best here in my opinion. Fragle Rocker knows a lot, and it's very noticeable too. Satyr is very insightful and suggestive in his posts. From the few posts I've read by Dr. Lou Natic, he seems pretty cool too. Spuriousmonkey has good posts in the thread that he seriously responds to. He and Baron Max seem more like real people than a lot of others here. implank is definitely the coolest, funniest person here. TW Scott has good posts, and occasionally Timetraveler and ToR have good posts aswell.

The man has some of the best reading comprehension I've seen, and as we all know, he is a very good at communicating ideas and concepts too.

Mr. Anonymous--Pretty hilarious guy. He's also a very good at communicating and conjuring up entertaining reads.

Dr. Lou Natic--I think he's undisputably the funniest person I've seen here. Very original and free thinker. Who else could come up with something like, "You don't have to stalk the dirtiest streets in town with a depraved smirk on your hard-ugly face to be a sleezeball." He also makes very insightful connections and observations about nature and science. It's too bad he doesn't frequent here much.

mountainhare--He seems like a pretty smart guy and occasionally reveals his biting sarcastic wit. Stuff is pretty worth reading.

samcdkey--I often disagree with her, but she's always polite and she seems like a genuinely nice person, which is very rare. I had this kind of thinking before I came to this forum, but back then, it just didn't have a name.

So to me, leaving this forum is imbued with a lot of meaning. It also means leaving behind a certain kind of thinking and acting -- and this is why it is so difficult to leave.
Because I am not merely leaving behind a forum, but also leaving behind the habit to indulge in rationalizations and endless discussions, leaving behind a particular way to present myself and find a new one, leaving behind the urge to explain myself to anyone who happens to ask, leaving behind an old schedule and keeping a new one, leaving behind certain old kinds of enjoyment and pursuing new ones ...

To me, the biggest endeavour connected with leaving the forums is in making an effort to drop meta-thinking. To me, the forum seems to be a most fertile breeding ground for meta-thinking, and it ~albeit unwillingly or unwittingly~ nourishes the notion that a analyticism is an adequate way to think of reality.

And leaving behind those other things is not such an easy feat to accomplish.
