I love to cook and am always interested in trying something new. I particularly like rice dishes, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Greek, and Indian. Oriental are great as well.

Also, any ideas on where to find hard to obtain spices and/or ingredients. Thanks.

Let's see, with airfare and ancillary charges, $3,000 for a gram of saffron sounds about right. :D

Bo Nhung...don't know if I spelled it right. AKA Beef Wraps

Rice paper
thin white noodle
butter
shrimp
beef
squid
lettuce
onion
cilantro
purple sauce

Thinly slice the beef and de-vein the shrimp. Cut the squid however you like, we like to slice and dice. I guess you'd call it scoring. Boil some thin white noodle. Wash all the veggies and place everything all fancy-like on nice plates on the table (noodle, beef, shrimp, squid, veggies). Get a hot pot and turn it on to a simmer. It's so easy to prepare and tastes so freakin good.

butter the hotpot and proceed to cook the meat. while it's cooking dip a rice paper in warm water and put it on your plate. Add noodle and veggies and by this time the meat will be done (beef cooks fast but shrimp takes longer, squid takes even longer). Add the meat and roll it all up so it looks like a springroll. Now dip it in the stinky purple sauce. I forget what it's called exactly but if you go to the orientlal market you can find it. It's pronounced Mum Nem. I believe it's a shrimp paste of some sort and has bits of pineapple in it. I hope I didn't butcher the recipe too bad, this stuff is really good.

I haven't had meditarranean in so long, I would love some recipes!

tip:
crush loads of fresh garlic cloves into a rough paste, then keep in a jar in the fridge.( do the same with ginger)
Works wonders in everything, whatever you're cooking, Indian, Italian etc.

Yeah, Kazakh, I have found some there. Your name makes me think I should check out some Kazakh food too. The spices can be hard to find for some dishes, though. That is one thing I liked about Europe, it was easier to find some of those things. Dang, I miss curry chips and paprika chips. I really miss Rivella.:(
