Its mainly based on two or more player games. What it lacks in graphics etc it makes up for in interactions between players. Its all part of aiming it for a new market as most gamers these days who play together play online which is very diff to two people playing on the same system.

It's fun it first but grows tiresome fairly quickly.
Of course I'm not an 7 year old.. lol ;)

The Wii is a fun console. I've been playing it around my mates this past week. On Monday we played darts on the Wii for about 5-6 hours. We played that Mario vs. Sonic game as well for a good hour or two. Time just flys when you play it, seriously, it is a lot of fun.

Well he has an older brother to play with him, and quite a few friends. That is why I thought this one might be good for him. My older one really wants XBOX 360. I said no because we already have an XBOX with tons of games.
I thought the games for the Wii look cool and there are alot more that a 7 yr old could play. I don't play the XBOX games because most are just too complicated, and I don't have the interest. I think that I would play more of the Wii games though.
I like the price point better than the PS3 and XBOX360 too. I guess it will all add up though, by the time I get a few controllers and accessories.

Speaking of that can you tell me what Accessories are good ones to pick up?

It can be exhausting, believe me. In the Mario vs Sonic game you have to move the remote and joystick up and down really fast. I played for hours without eating and after a while my arms turned to jelly, my hand was shaking all over the place. When it came to the darts I couldn’t throw straight.

If you're expecting both your sons to play with more friends, you should expect alot of noise and commotion. For some of the games you have to actually stand up and swing your arms around, sometimes the remote and joystick can end up being thrown around the room (though there is a wrist strap on the remote). Something mums should be aware of.

You get one remote and one joystick with the Wii Console, you’ll definitely have to buy a few more remotes and joysticks (they take AA batteries), you may have to buy other accessories with certain games but at this point I'd say leave them - the remote and joystick will be enough.

Wiis are undeniably awesome! :D:D I got one for Christmas and just the game that comes with it (Wii sports) is a lot of fun. Very few cons to it, although the setup is rather frustrating, but once you have everything going, it has almost no down sides to it.

They have so much equipment to prevent that from happening now.:D Wrist straps and gel remote covers so even if it does fly into the TV, it hopefully will not break it. But even so, my personal advice to you is to not go crazy with Wii boxing, just as a precaution. :cool:

If you want family fun sure. Not for individuals ,as there isn't a game with a storyline thats really good.
My dad got a wii, but he doesn't have anyone to play it with, so it wasn't a good choice. Wii is a family, exercise oriented thing.

I was wondering if things were different in Canada than they were here. I called every day at at least 6 different stores for over a month before I got lucky and got one.

The games look pretty good. They are totally different than the ones we have for the XBOX. I also saw that they have a charger to recharge the controllers. I love that idea instead of changing batteries all the time.

Does anyone have the charger, and does it work well?

Batteries work fine for the wii, and chargers are a little extra money ($45 minimum). I would not suggest buying a charger unless you have four controllers.

I actually saw the charger for $31.00 It said it recharges 1 in 2 hours or
2 in 4 hours. Of course I won't need a charger if I can't find a Wii lol

i got out wii from e bay, it was brand new in box, and it cost us just £100, and we love it, my son is playing all the time, there are games out there that kids can play wiht on they're own, they can also use the game cube games,

The 360 is a new system; it plays the old Xbox games as well as the "new" games... And it's liked by a whole lot of people for the value the games contain.

Major gamers think about these things first. Because they decide that the best games, best graphics, is usually the best way to go sort of stuff. For example, if I was a big time gamer (which I am), I would think of what system I would like best. Your son/daughter is probably similar.... (the one that wanted the 360).

But do not be fooled, the Wii is an amazing consol. He/she should know this. I am infact jeleous owning both a ps3 and xbox360, of the Wii; as it is bringing out eventually everything that I love... Mario Kart; Tales of Symphonia II. ...These are just some of the things. Not to mention a great price.

Either way you look at it,
the Wii has inferior graphics to the 360 and Ps3 both.
The Wii does not feature as many consol specific games that both 360 and Ps3 do share.
The Wii does not play previous games of it's consol name (ex. Ps3 & 360 play ps2 and xbox games (and ps1).

But the 'pros' are good too. It's a one of a kind system with amazing games. I am jeleous of it because Nintendo is going to pop out with the amazing games once again, not too long from now if not already by now. As I mentionend above, Tales of Symphonia II. So you won't have to worry about any negitive games, I would say that there are more likeable games on this consol than many, if not all. In a word, it competes with the 360 and Ps3 just as easily as the Gamecube competed with the Ps2, if not better.

Also the wii-mote (wii remote) thing. Is supposed to be cool.
Basically it's a hands down amazing system; the cons and pros weigh themselvs out IMO.

hmmmmmmmm I didn't think the new Xbox 360 played the old Xbox games too. We have tons of the old Xbox games.

It is my older son (11) who really wants the Xbox 360. My younger one plays with him on our current Xbox. I find alot of the games he is playing though are a little over his head. (also contain some content I am not cool with)

I thought the Wii would be perfect for a 7 yr old. Like you said they have alot of games geared to his age too. I like all those Super Mario Brothers and the sports games they have for it.

Yeah the prices have come down alot. The PS3 and Xbox360 are both 399.00 now. The Wii is 269.00.

Considering it is my youngest ones birthday. (in my house they call him the "golden boy") lolol
I think "IF" I can actually find one, I am going with the Wii.

Maybe the PS3 will be my Christmas present to both my older one and my b/f.

We don't have Gamecube. But I know alot of ppl that don't want theirs.
So if you play a gamecube game on the wii, do you have to use gamecube controllers or will the wii controllers work?

My parents got me the last Wii in the area for Christmas, well they had to drive 1.5 hrs to get it.

I love the thing, but have over played it sometimes and threw out my shoulder boxing a couple times.

The things you have to buy for the wii add up quick.

wiimote = $40
nunchuck = $20

a single charging station does 2 wiimotes and are $30

most of the other toys are $20 like the shotgun blaster rifle and crossbow, but all you need are wiimotes and nunchucks (maybe a classic controller if you get hooked to the virtual console)

most of the wii titles are specifically designed as party games, thus are no fun to just stay home alone and play, but they do have some that are fine by yourself. i'm waiting for the new star wars game to come out in a month or two so that i can beat down some little kids and hear them bawww over the fact that i used to fence and swordfight irl back when i was in jr high / high school.

i'd say that my favorite things about the wii are the virtual console where you can pay a little $$ to dl games from the nes/snes/n64/neogeo/sega/saturn/etc. so getting to play a copy of games like tecmo bowl that still work was well worth the $5 to download it, and since i never got to own a n64 or most of the other systems you can dl from i really love it

also i love the photo editor, and when i get a job teaching this fall i plan on using that photo tool to make my own bootleg version of power point, thus justifying my having my wii in my classroom along with a wall projector :)

i think you might be able to use the classic controller as well, and you have to watch out because not all gamecube games are compatable with the wii...

I own a 360 and have never had problems with it. I love xbox live and the list of games and exclusive titles that come with the 360. If I ever do happen to get the 3 rings of death its okay because microsoft will just replace my xbox. Its a good system, aty least from my experience.

What? Have you played gears of war, oblivion, halo 3, or mass effect? There are many many great games out there, dont let your hatred of microsoft as a company taint your perception of the gaming industry as a whole. YA I had a modded xbox and had every nintendo super nintendo genesis and gameboy game on it as well as about 30+ xbox games

The things break more often than not, and there are tons of games that are NOT backwards compatable.

Spend anytime around a 360 and you get to learn what this means...

and for those of you that have never encountered a 360, that means that you're fucked and it is time to send your paperweight back to microsoft so they can fix it for free and get it back to you in a few weeks/months

Perhaps that's why microsoft is going out of the winners of the next gen race!

I must admit; I like the 360 because it has some really sweet games; not to mention the fact that it currently has better games than the ps3.
This does not mean the ps3 is not going to catch up to it.

But yes; I can be pretty sure microsoft is going to fix this problem; and I can be sure that it is better in competition wise than the origonal x box was, to the ps3....

But for crying out loud! It is a good system; just perhaps, not as "wise" as the Ps3. While the Wii has a lot of amazing things; it is a really tough decision when buying next gen consols.

Wii is the next generation. The next generation is about integrating our entire body and mind into the game. We need to fell like it is real. We need to use our entire bodies and see the game as if we were inside it. That's where we are headed to. And while the Wii is leading the way, we can see that in the PS3 and Xbox to. Isn't their most popular game Guitar hero? :)

Read up on oblivion - all glamour - no guts. Halo 3 is a gun game with nerf weapons(just gotta be close to get a hit). The other two I refuse, because of the exculsive underhanded marketing.

I went to 5 places today. Everyone told me the same story. We hardly ever get any, we haven't had any for a long time now. Do you know when they are coming in? NO we have no idea.........$#@$#@$%$#%#$% Ok!!!

So I went to EB Games and was talking to the geek there for a while. Then a thought came to me as I was looking at used GameCube games. If you can use Gamecube games and the controllers for the Wii later on maybe I should just get him that for now.
They had alot of Mario games and Pokemon which he likes. So then I asked the guy how much are the Gamecubes he said 89.99. I said hmmmmm you don't have any used ones around do you. He said I don't think so, but i will look in the back for you. YES!! we got one in last night actually. I said how much is it......20.00 with one controller and the cables. SOLD!!!! then I picked up 3 new controllers. I got him 5 games so far.
I know I will find alot more esp in the Spring at Garage Sales in my neighbourhood DIRT CHEAP.................

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo until I bump into the RARE Wii, he can play this.
Then he can use all this stuff on the Wii later on, if I should find one.
