Serious question here. None of my photog friends have a satisfactory answer. Why do my eyes look brown in some pictures? They are clear blue. Lighting? Why do my teeth look like they have spaces in the front when they don't? Lighting again? Shading? Why does my blonde hair look like I have black roots? (My roots are only a little darker than the rest of my golden-blonde hair)? Lighting again? I notice this on every kind of camera I've used. Wow... I'd say it was some sort of light reflection off of your features. I took two photography classes and never came across that problem... though, I did all of my work in B&W. ~String
Everyone keeps saying lighting. And I understand that. I think.:shrug: My problem is I can be standing with 4 other blonde-haired, blue-eyed women with good teeth, and my pic is the only one that comes out with red/other-colored eyes, dark-looking roots, and funky-@ss looking teeth. i dont think anything can be done about red eye when the photo is take with flash pictures and i never heard about gaps in teeth or seen this happen. I think it is more of the impression people have of themselves, my friend is a master photographer and photographs a lot of good looking people and some not so good looking and when people as 'why do i look like THAT' or 'that picture is horrible' he wants to tell them 'because THAT IS what you look like'...Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! i myself am a natural photographer, and in my estimation you cannot beat natural light. SO if you want good images indoors as in for portatrait you have to know how to light (3 point lighting) OR better yet use available light: An indoor example may be in a bright room, standing by a window with lots of sunlight and using reflectors to light your face. hmm. i'd say accept the little flaws (that you cant change with tricks of light); they add personality and are endearing to people who love you.
I studied photography in college. Why don't you post an example pic alongside a pic that you think is a good representation of you so we have something to talk to?
