View Full Version : Anybody know any Tai Chi site? lixluke 05-29-07, 08:08 AM Does anybody know where I can watch or download a video to learn the whole Tai Chi form from beginning to end? EmptyForceOfChi 05-29-07, 08:29 AM dont. i have been learning taiji for many years, you should never learn a whole style from watching vids online or offline, get a good teacher and join a class. if you are doing something wrong you need to be corrected first hand, it makes me smile whenever somebody wants to learn taiji, go and find a teacher who has a good reputation and study under him/her, after you have joined a class and you have progressed along its ok to pick up a few pointers and tips from videos and pictures, but always learn as a whole initialy from a experienced instructor. where do you live? i might be able to help you with some information i know many martial arts instructors worldwide, if you are interested in taiji, it is always a good idea to learn some qi gong along with it. peace. lixluke 05-29-07, 09:02 AM I plan to learn all the steps on my own. Then whenever I get invited to one of his free sessions, I will ask him or one of the advanced students to fix me up. It's not alot of moves. Probably like 60. It should be pretty easy. What is Qi Gong? Isn't that the guy in that crappy Star Wars movie? EmptyForceOfChi 05-29-07, 06:17 PM lol, qi gong is a method for making your qi stronger, it is used for healing and for defensive strength, it is known in the west sometimes as chi kung, what style/form of taiji are you looking to study? http://taichi.snowseed.com/taichi_108.htm peace. lixluke 05-30-07, 08:44 AM lol, qi gong is a method for making your qi stronger, it is used for healing and for defensive strength, it is known in the west sometimes as chi kung, what style/form of taiji are you looking to study? http://taichi.snowseed.com/taichi_108.htm peace. Whichever the one the class I was in was teaching. I know it's not Chen style. I think it is Chuang style. I don't even know. My teacher is ubercool. He is one of the most relaxed individuals I have ever met in my entire life. I would never know by talking to him that he does some serious brutality because he's real nice and soft spoken. Yes that is what I thought. I really want to learn it. I don't wish to proceed with all that brutal stuff he teaches. The martial arts he teaches actually comes from my country. Pretty weird that of all the martial arts out there, this is the one I randomly get exposed to. http://taichi.snowseed.com/taichi_108.htm What style is this? It says Yen. Is that the same as the Chuan style? I think the Chuan is the one I have been taught. EmptyForceOfChi 05-30-07, 06:27 PM yan style taiji is called that because it was introduced by a guy called yan lu chan. all styles are simular they branch from the original chen style, i cant say wich is the best to learn. i would say chen style should be taught to you first though as its only right to learn from the starting point. i strongly suggest learning qigong and bagua if you are interested in the healing and non fighting side to internal arts. as i said before they go hand in hand with each other. http://www.taichi18.com/ peace. |
