Hey guys, I was wondering if you guys have any ideas for great physics books. Im taking grade 11 physics right now and I dont really like the way my text book teaches physics. So if you guys have any suggestions on other books from which I could learn some physics, any suggestion is welcome, thanks:)
I have not read these completely, but so far they look very nice. You can download them with Adobe Acrobat and print them out:
Motion Mountain (http://motionmountain.dse.nl/welcome.html)
Light and Matter (http://www.lightandmatter.com) (6 books)

Understanding Physics
By Isaac Asimov
^ Great first book on physics (only uses algebra; no calculus). Actually, it is 3 volumes but they are usually printed as one these days.
If I were in grade 11 physics and could get only 3 books, they’d be these:
Cartoon Guide to Physics (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0062731009/qid=1047804258/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-0289417-6043949?v=glance&s=books)
Thinking Physics (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0935218084/qid=1047804052/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/104-0289417-6043949)
Relativity Visualized (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/093521805X/ref=pd_bxgy_img_2/104-0289417-6043949?v=glance&s=books)

General Relativity From A to B, by Robert Geroch
Introduction to Wave Phenomena, by Akira Hirose
Visual Complex Analysis, by Tristan Needham
(my "all-time" favorite mathematics book)
