Is it possible for one eccentric professor to neutralize the enormous years-long labors of thousands of highly skilled scientists, engineers, and workers to develop precision "smart weapons" at the cost of tens of billions of dollars? "Easy," as they say in Russia. A St. Petersburg scientist, Dr. of Technical Sciences Valentin Vladimirovich Kashinov, has managed to do just that. With his inventions he has virtually "shut down" western efforts to create 21st century weapons, precision "smart" weapons which find targets based on information from satellites, and thus are today considered nearly one hundred percent effective. Valentin Kashinov made his "contribution" to the defense capability of the US and NATO, practically knocking out the latest, multi-billion dollar military space system, and at the same time raising doubts about the advisability of Washington's development of a national ABM defense.

Interesting if true but I wonder where Mr. Bogdanov got his information for the later half of the article.

I'm going to have to disagree with some statements such as :since the GPS system cannot be improved

But the higher-tech the weapon, the more easily it can be suppressed.

I'm not sure what his point is. We've had jamming, decoys, and electronic countermeasures for as long as we've been using electronics in our weapons. One improves, then the other improves to counter it - it's an endless cycle.

As Nasor mentions, it is an endless cycle. Each time an advance occurs it is not long before the other side has an answer. This makes it necessary for another advance to continue the lead.

You should ask Orthogonal to return.

The big weakness in the GPS system is the power of the signal. It's current;y weak enough to be jammed that easily. You don't really have much choice with current satellites.

the statement that the GPS cannot be improved upon is based on no one has figured out a way, thats not to say it cant be one way or another, or possibly used as a bulding block for an improved system.

as to the other statement I quoted, I think it must be reffering to a system that isn't self-reliant.

LOL I am waiting for the next generation of micro-wave ovens to fry the upgraded "smart"-bombs.

Na, ain't nothing like like the good ol' B52 carpetbombing. Perhaps not as "smart" but it gets the job done....
