(Im putting this here because i don't know which branch to put it in) I may be about to make a fool of myself (because It actually may have come from here) but i read somewhere about anti-gravity experiments using (i think this is what it said) magnetics Anyone know about this?
A chap named Podkletnov demonstrated a "gravity shielding" technique years ago. He suspended a disc of superconductive material between some powerful electromagnets. Above that disc, everything he weighed was at -2-4% of its normal weight. NASA has been working with Podkletnov for several years now. I believe their idea at the moment is to use this idea in launch pads, to reduce the effectice weight of rocket launches and thus drastically reduce the cost of launches. There was also a story on several news websites a month or so back about some orbital experiments using his ideas.
NASA patents an anti-gravity device (well sort of) NASA recently patented an electric device for producing thrust from electric and magnetic fields. It is a rip off of T.T. Browns levity disk but they have updated the technology a bit here is the link to the patent archive. http://www.uspto.gov 6,317,310 I can not import the exact link with this interface this is not gravity shielding but it likely works to produce thrust. Enough that they propose that it can even be used to turn a propeller. Although that is an unlikely application IMHO.
Make that electromagnetics. Many years ago, I did a test that increased the weight of nine pennies to 10 pennies on a balance scale. While that is the wrong side of gravity, there is a possibility it can be reversed, but I am not sure. One of these days, I am going to build a prototype and see if I can repeat the experiment.
