A few points about music were on the mind and I thought I might see what you people thought about them... Greatest Hits Collections? Never worth it to buy? (Keep in mind John Lennon's - "Legend" ) Classical Music. Damaging to the character to listen to too often? Soundtracks. Any of them worth while? (Only worthy one I have found is "Trainspotting" ST) Portable Music devices. Lose of social interaction worthy of the quality of music? Mozart Theory. Is it true? Listening to classical music while working, can it improve your intellect? I know a lot of these are a matter of opinion but thats what im looking for, among other things.
Greatest Hits Collections? Never worth it to buy? While I am not to fond of the whole 'greatest hits' idea I do think it provides a great way for casual fans to get all their favorites without spending a substantial amounts of money on the bands catalogue. It may also convince casual fans to do just that. I think that Greatest hits should only be released after a decade of music OR after the group has dispanded. Even so, I think of them as primerily a commercial enterprise. They should always offer unreleased cuts or other rarities along with the package. Classical Music. Damaging to the character to listen to too often? I wouldn't know. I enjoy classical music once in a while but I probably would develope several oddball mental conditions if I were subjected to it 24/7. Soundtracks. Any of them worth while? (Only worthy one I have found is "Trainspotting" ST) One word; STIGMATA!!!! I don't usually buy sountracks but this one proved to be worth it. Starts off with a mediocre chumbawumba song that is none the less a nice breath of something different from what I usually listen to. Then theres some extremely cool songs by Remy Zero, Bjork, David Bowie, Massive Attack and a suprisingly fofilling vocal performance by Natalie Imbruglia on the magnificent 'Identify'. After that the compilation changes pace. It gets into all the creepy, melodious existential instrumentals you've likely heard in the movie. Very relaxing, I used to listen to the final half of the album quite frequently while meditating. Portable Music devices. Lose of social interaction worthy of the quality of music? Depends on the person. For me yes because I have a attrocious sociability anyway, portable music helps me escape all the noise and congestion of day to day life. Mozart Theory. Is it true? Listening to classical music while working, can it improve your intellect? I'm not sure for 'While' working but I'm pretty sure listening to complex/and or/melliflious music does help in some respects. As long as the listener is paying attention. It probably requires a certain standard of other influences to be verifiable in experiment. I imagine the effect is close to that of meditation.
On sound tracks: One that I have enjoyed over and over is the War of the Worlds. It was and still is absolutey fantastic!

You can remember records, from before the c.d.'s?? Well, that's what I have. I don't know if this records are on c.d. , but I doubt it. It's nice music from end '70's, it told the story of Marsians attacking Earth. An insane story, for aliens always are the bad ones in movies. Just like the Indians in earlier day's. Looks like they now pick aliens, now the Indians are nearly gone... What should we think of that?? But that was not the question. If you want to hear this music, ask your c.d. salesman if he has The War Of The Worlds......... And yes it is on cd. I've worn out a couple of record sets, a couple of cassette tape sets, and working on a cd set.
That's a good thing to hear. I'll try if the c.d. is available in this country, they don't always have what you have in the U.S. Maybe I can order it at the music-store.
