View Full Version : An act of empire odin 10-12-02, 09:52 AM http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/opinion/bookman/ Adam 10-12-02, 12:03 PM In his speech Monday night, President Bush warned Iraqi generals that if they used chemical or biological weapons against U.S. troops, they would be tried as international war criminals, much as former Yugoslavian leader Slobodan Milosevic is now being tried by an international court for attempted genocide in Bosnia and Kosovo. So why wasn't the USA brought before war crimes courts for the depleted uranium they left all over Iraq? The president's warning was appropriate and necessary, made all the more powerful by its citation of international law. Yet the very next day, the president dispatched a top State Department envoy to Europe to demand that all Americans be given total immunity from prosecution on war-crime charges by international criminal courts. Ah. Of course. One law for everybody else; no law for Americans. It is an act of empire. Sad but true. Yes, interesting. spookz 10-12-02, 12:05 PM we'll be seeing you guys soon. have a cup of tea ready Clockwood 10-12-02, 02:05 PM Granite in newyork is more radioactive than depleted uranium. That is why they call it DEPLETED. Adam 10-12-02, 02:10 PM Depleted uranium as used in ammunition retains about 60% of the radioactivity of un-depleted uranium. CounslerCoffee 10-12-02, 03:17 PM Why does Bush want to start a war with Iraq? Whats the point? Iraw cant do anything, Iraqs not even doing anything right now except saying "Please dont shoot us, were letting the inspectors in.". This just doesnt make sense, Bush thinks that hes the King of America but hes not. I say we de-throne him. Clockwood 10-12-02, 04:48 PM Because Iraq is being an ass. Saddam plays games with us saying "come on in" then "get out or we kill you" then "we deny ever refuseing you access". He tells his own people how evil those americans are and then starves them. THAT is why we hate him. You can hate us if you wish but never disrespect us. Those who fight us we must always fight. They're proscratinating. A war is inevitable, its just a matter of them nuking us to kill civilians, or us sending in a small force only to clean up they're millitary with 0 civilian casualties. CounslerCoffee 10-12-02, 05:12 PM with 0 civilian casualties. If you think that is possible then your mental. Unregistered 10-12-02, 05:43 PM It'll be alot closer to 0 if we attack them. If we let them nuke/bio/chem us, you can tally it into the millions. They intend to kill civilians, we dont. Adam 10-12-02, 06:22 PM Except that Iraq has not decalred any intention whatsoever to attack the USA with such weapons. The USA, however, goes bombing somewhere every couple of years. And of course there is not yet any evidence that Iraq currently posesses chem/bio/nuclear weapons. Unregistered 10-13-02, 07:08 PM Are you willing to risk it all on that? Seriously?? Xev 10-13-02, 07:19 PM Are you willing to risk it all on that? Seriously?? Canada is developing nuclear weapons. Don't believe me? Are you willing to risk it? Benji 10-14-02, 02:43 AM Canada is developing nuclear weapons. Oh god! we live in hope ;) Don't believe me? Are you willing to risk it? Shit yeah! Except that Iraq has not decalred any intention whatsoever to attack the USA with such weapons. The USA, however, goes bombing somewhere every couple of years. So you expect America to let its $200 Billion dollar millitary rust? Iraq makes good target practise, and when the fit hits the shan you can always ask for the SAS/SBS to come and clean up after you. Xev 10-14-02, 03:31 AM Well, think about it. If it's true, then you've bombed the shit out of Canada. If it's not true, then you've bombed the shit out of Canada..... Can't go wrong! Unregistered 10-14-02, 06:24 PM Haha, the difference there is Canada is our ally, and does not harbor as much hate to us as Iraq does (if Canade habors any, really, remains to be seen) |
