Americans don't mind being conned

An empire doesn't have citizens, it has subjects. Subjects don't expect to challenge the emperor or even to be told the facts.

By Ellen Goodman

06/27/03: (Boston Globe) When President George W. Bush donned his coronation clothes and landed on the deck of the Abraham Lincoln, I felt like the skunk at the victory party. I went around asking the partygoers: Where were the weapons of mass destruction?

Sadly, wedo not want truth and justice. Remember the 2000 election? This is no different. We like to live in the matrix :D
But then again, I'm glad that liberman fool isn't vice president.
Instead the president draws yet another link between 9/11 and Iraq, telling $4 million worth of donors in New York on Monday night that "Terrorists declared war on the United States of America, and war is what they got."

And he gets away with it.

Are you kidding?
Americans WANT to be conned.
They request (some people would even argue require) it.
This has been going on for MANY years.
Gee Dubya didn't invent it by any means.
He just isn't very bright, therefore quite sloppy and blatant about it.

Depends on the empire. If the empire dosn't hold itself together with force (military forces on every street allways cracking down on dissenters) it has to hold itself together by another means. Here in America we make the attempt to keep the public content and reasonably proud of the country.

Emporers do not care about the feelings of their subjects. They can allways beat them until they comply. American presidents will usually bend over backwards to keep the public happy. Dosn't seem like something an emporer would do for their subjects.

I see no soldiers patrolling the streets of new york. I see nobody bringing in a maching gun and gunning down protesters in LA. Our dissenters aren't being drug away and killed here in Omaha. I would see such things if we were some dictators subjects.

As an American I would like to say there are exceptions but most of the people of this country are well ya sheep.

Most people are sheep, not just Americans. It's just that in America the sheep are contented because they have malls, cable, video games, guns and porn to keep them distracted.

Though on the surface that appears to be a bad thing, I think there are plausible arguments either way....

I stand corrected.
