What is it about people that they love to watch a train wreck? Why do people like to watch other people humiliate themselves on national TV? And then there is me. It makes me uncomfortable and I either have to mute it or change the channel. I just can't watch. Do I have too much empathy?
Yes, you are lame. You probably descend from a pathetic culture that didn't even publically torture individuals to death in the street. I don't know where that might be, iceland?
lol, i watch it over here on cable(jerry springer), and i have to admit i watch it because people seem to have no repect for themselves, and its funny to watch people makes asses of themselves, and besides most of its staged anyway, i tried to watch american idol but, it drove me nuts,
because its not them making a fool of themselves.? people are just like animals and they will always find entertainment in other people's disasters
animals are entertained by other animals disasters? I'm not entertained by it. So what about me makes me different than you? What is it that makes it entertainment for you and difficult to see for me?
because your a better person  i have to admit at times i cringe at what they do and say, but its mostly actors anyway
I watched the highlights of AI. Hysterical! They had some guy singing "We Are Brothers" to Simon at the end of the show last nite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siLCZn5C218 The last part of the video where Paula started dancing was SO funny! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! These really bad people are there because they WANT to be. They will do anything for publicity. The other funny ones were the guy who wouldn't stop singing, and the 'guyliner' guy. Tuesday nite the funny ones were the psycho brown-toothed/overly-madeup/hideously-dressed/Simon-bashing chick and the Star Wars chick. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

Would you laugh at a person with Down's who was trying to sing and couldn't? Do people enjoy laughing at them because it makes them feel superior?
Do you make a big point to let everyone know you don't like laughing at the misfortune and humiliation of others because it makes you feel superior? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
So says me Well, among viewers in the States, it's because we are Americans. Yes and no. For some it's a sense of superiority. For others it's a mitigation of their own fears of inferiority. • • • It could be that she wants an answer. There are many people, Lou, who either don't understand or simply haven't yet come to accept the miserable state of human society. The species has so much potential, yet we're squandering it. We could try, for instance, inquiring with Orleander about how much she feels a part of "mainstream" society. The more a person believes they are part of the main bloc of society, the harder it is for them to admit that we are a base, cruel, misguided lot because, being part of the primary manifestation of that lot, they feel the implication is that it's their fault. And, well, yes, to a degree, it is. But it's all of our faults, too. So says me. People who feel close to the mainstream need not feel guilty if they're willing to hop out of the handbasket and get on the trolley. We've got a lot of work to do, and one of the things we can do to free up some time would be to stop watching reality television. Personally, I can't stand those programs. I consider them akin to soap operas and the current generation of sitcoms: diversionary entertainment for the lower end of the gene pool.
I laugh at the misfortune and humiliation of others. If you fall down the stairs and your dress flips over your head, I'll be laughing as I rush over to help you. I don't understand laughing at people who obviously have mental issues. They need help, not nationwide humiliation and scorn.
