I've noticed that the Amazon ad sometimes fills up the entire page when I click on threads. Yet its only a couple of knuckles in width. Seems like a terrible waste of space. Any way of flipping it around so it runs across rather than downwards? Just an observation I thought worth mentioning. I realise there probably isn't much that can be done.
what amazon ads? when i am logged in the only "ad" i see is the donation box and that only takes up, what, a couple of square inches?
perhaps the "no ads at all" were grandfathered to older memberships like ours? i also see no ads at all.
I am using Firefox. The ads you probably see are when you are not logged in. Sometimes when I click to see a thread, and it opens a new window, it shows an ad and that I am not logged in. Check to see if that is the case. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
the ads are there for advertising money, but of course amazon.com doesnt have an account here, so they dont know all their ads are invisible to members.
Haha... devious plan. I remember SF used to have ads up even for members a while back. Maybe a year ago? Two years?
I travel a lot. Part of my job I'm afraid. As a result I often use internet cafe's. I'd seen the Amazon ad numerous times and just thought it would look better if it didn't run the full length of the board requiring users to scroll down the entire page. I believe I was logged in.
What you describe is not how the ads appear on my computer when I am not logged in. They are fairly small and to the left of the messages.. I do not have to scroll through anything. If you are logged in and see ads, it must be a grandfathered thing... I see no ads on this site when I log in.
