What reason is there to try to wipe out the homosexual population? They are neither anymore harmful than heterosexuals and by their very nature will be unable to reproduce.

It could have evolved as we evolved, infecting successive generations.

I do not believe that the Gov. genetically engineering the AIDS virus, it seems to complex. Has there ever been a government/laboratory create a virus? It seems too complex and fraut w/ failure. I think like other discoveries, certain viruses are in certain parts of the world and lay dormant until discovered. Look at the Marbug viruse or Hanta, kind of the same thing. I guess they could have taken a shot a producing a virus, and then mutating etc, became the AIDS virus, that would be crazy
