Answer the poll. Next explain why you think what you do.

From this point onward all credit card companies have stopped honoring purchases made on AllOfMP3.com It's a doomed site with little to offer except the initial .20 cents for verifying your e-mail. I found out about it to late to make good use of it, the very good thing is I managed to acquire a few songs using the free .20 cents

    I got:

    Smile.DK - Butterfly
    Smile.DK - Boys
    Cliff Richard - Devil Woman
    KMFDM - Ultra

To name just a few. In order to get more than 1 song I had to register multiple e-mail address's, then use the free .20 cents from them, lmao.

Why would I do that? Because iTunes doesn't sell those songs, and I really, really love them but cannot find the CD's anywhere. They're either out-of-print or to expensive ($40 USD). The one song I didn't get that I was hoping to is Gun - Word Up! I suspect AllOfMP3 logs IP address's which is why my attempts to further get .20 cents using dummy e-mail accounts failed. So now I got the missing music in my collection, and I got it in .m4a AAC format @ 128 just like iTunes! That's all I ever really wanted, to have all .m4a files

So yeah, nobody will be able to use them ever now, there is no method to get credits for music you want, I think they'll just die out and never be heard from again.

I used to use this site. After all the credit card companies initially rejected them, they opened a different service where the credits could be transferred between allofmp3 and the other site. Then, that failed for some reason, probably because the other site was illegal too (or it was in america, and was rejected by credit card companies). Then they did some crafty three way thing where you got an account on one site in order to get an account on another site which allowed you to buy an allofmp3 gift card. It worked for several months and only recently has it been shut down as well. So, I am guessing that they will find another way to do this sooner or later. I suspect the other methods were discontinued because they were too complicated. Anyways, even if they are doomed, there are plenty of other sites just like it. And there also is the nearly unlimited amount of illegal ways. I prefer usenet myself.

Look, it was obviously bent from the get go. Just because you paid something, didn't make it legal ever. While I am no fan of record labels trying to control the market and distribution mechanisms, allofmp3 was illegal, so they must perish.

music will never be meaningless... if there is something making it meaninless, it's using it as mere means to make money

If the meaning of music to me was money, then music would be worthless to me. That said, the closest I get to popular music culture is Green Day and My Chemical Romance.

I just bought a song... darn, thats one less line of coke for that musician..jk. however, I need my money more than he needs my money.

    w1z4rd,

that includes office workers, cleaners, local shops etc. most musicians dont make much money to begin with. i would rather pay the .99 to download or buy a cd.

mp3's are not that good anyway, too much data is thrown away. not bad for a portable device but nothing near cd quality.

Well, they really are 'product' so you are in the middle of consumerism, not close to it.

phonetic I managed to get that song by signing up again for a free 20 cents, so all is good now :> I actually have all my songs I wanted in m4a now and it's fantastic! I luV it!

The only thing I really wonder is if AllOfMP3 will ever come back from the dead, and for those saying we have alternatives why not list them, maybe because there aren't any :}~ Anyways I'd love to torrent my music collection for free but I can't cuz I'd goto jail, so ehh. My plan is this, when the RIAA ceases to exist, and all record companies die, then I'll seed my music forever!

    Currently I have 506 songs!

It's amazing because I bought 310 or so, the rest I had to get through torrenting otherwise I'd not have gotten them... it might be more like 410 I'm not sure :L

I saught lossless files like FLAC or APE to convert them into WAV then AAC. The rest are mp3

506 songs is your entire collection? =|

I paid for most of my songs phoentic, that's why I don't got 1,000 of them. I only bought the ones I really liked, then ignored the rest :> I believe in fairness so buy, but the songs I got elsewhere you cannot buy, even on CD :Z is hard to find..

    PS I luV u!

I would rather just not buy it. At R150 a cd here (3 cases of beer to put in in perspective) they can go jump. I will be honest my music collection is weird and small mostly consisting of local bands and one or two international ones.

Real artists does not have to do anything for money, for for the love of it. Ban the selling of music tomorrow, people will still sing.

I concur with this viewpoint. Currently musical artists are fat cows that only care about the money they're paid by the mindless drones who follow them. Record company executives are rich on the weakminded artists not capable of arguing a point. To the credit of the record industry they've given us good music, but they also have ripper us off since their inception... let's face it... I could find a relatively good singer, with a pretty smile, then put her up on stage and tell people she's a star, they'd believe it too

This is all the recording industry does... and if you have a hit song then you're a superstar!

    Yepo!
