I am very new to this site (e.g. the internet) but am desperate to discuss some ideas I've had. They may not be original, I may be crossing old territory but I figure I've got to start somewhere.
I have an idea: I do believe in the 'grays'. I do believe in U.F.O's. I believe that yes the earthlights theory has knocked off some of my favourite U.F.O photos and reports but not all of them and the ones that are left are fantastic. What I can't let go of is this. I find it harder and harder to accept the idea of species from some far off world (and with all the planets we've been discovering lately (yay! for the drake equation!) that are seemingly barren nearby) coming all the way here to play with us. I mean with that level of technology, thats all there is to it (anything else is hideously homocentric). They have to be coming here as a fairground attraction and that I find difficult to swallow. Also, they seem to have been here for a long long time. Aboriginal cave paintings seem to have pretty damn fine likenesses of them. What I've been thinking is. What if they're not alien at all. Don't get me wrong I believe in alien life and I'm sure it mightn't be the resource wasting trip that humans seem to think a trip between the stars might be but what if we're the next in a long sequence of species that could have evolved on Earth over the last 500,000 years or so into intelligent life and that the species that did so before us has either taken it upon themselves or is wholly responsible for our existence.
This idea has not died out in me as so many do and nothing has overtly seemed to contradict this. Not religion, not physics, nothing. I would like to discuss this further and see if it is a dead end or if maybe it's worth really studying. Quotes seem to be the order of the day so who else but Whitley.

"How can we have faith in societies and institutions that threaten us with species suicide?"

    be good
