so i was wondering, if aliens came to earth, would they be deported for illegal entry into wahtever country??. it seems like the sort of thing that would probably happen in the US.

i know it sounds stupid but are there any laws already in place for this or would aliens be breaking the law by coming here

Most likely, the spacecraft the aliens came to earth in would be impounded, stripped and torn apart by the government for it's advanced technology and the so-called aliens would be whisked away to parts unknown, endlessly interrogated, given hundreds of medical exams and questioned by the CIA, FBI and various other government agencies and for whatever reason, the government would make them disappear (lock them away hide in some holding cell for future reference) and they would never be seen again........And even if the aliens wanted to leave, they wouldn't be able too because the spacecraft they came to earth in would have been torn apart long ago........Thanks to science!

"Thanks to science"

I think you mean power and politics, actually. Which is not to say that science doesnt get misused in the pursuit of such goals, but scientific knowedge wouldnt be ther prime mover in all you describe, except for the few who subscribe to rather less comlpex moral codes than most scientists.

I don’t think we would tear apart their stuff. I mean, how stupid would it be to kidnap aliens if you knew they were smarter/more advanced than you? Strange psychos do not run government agencies, its run by people with more or less the same ability to reason as you or I. I mean, it is pretty obvious that the aliens would be quite upset about something like that, and would probably retaliate, or at least never come back. it would be much more advantageous to brainwash (if possible) the aliens into thinking the US government is the leader of the world and that they should give all their technology to the US. the government may tell the aliens something like "we need to test your craft to make sure it wont harm humans" and get as much technology off it as possible but to destroy the whole thing would be just plain stupid.

Once the aliens land depending on where they land, then all bets all off. If they landed in Russia? Who knows what would happen to the aliens and their spacecraft........

Maybe we should start a thread on how and why aliens would invade us. Ignoring the usual protocl extended to visitors might be one. Exactly what theyd do to us for it would depend upon their phsychology and weapons available.

If it was a crash landing alien craft, then perhaps it might not matter, assuming that it wasnt traceable by the other aliens.

The best non-hostile civilized place to land probably would be the EU.

I don't think the aliens would take a chance and land here unless they were pretty certain no harm would come to them or their spacecraft. Having some understanding on how governmwnts would react to an alien spacecraft landing, I would imagine that any government would have a few tanks and weopons ready just in case the alien visitors and their greeting turned out to be a surprise.......Likewise, the same for the alien vistors too!

Why do you have screens covering your windows? You want to keep the flies and mosquitos and spiders out. Modern man will never venture into the open universe.

I agree......Modern man probably won't be around long enough to make it into 'Deep Space'......Maybe robots will. Aliens (friendly or otherwise), if they're intelligent enough to make spacecraft to travel into the far reaches of deep space, then I'm sure there are plenty of other planets either in our own galaxy or others, that would be far more attractive to them instead of our little 'waring" planet Earth that has a bunch of primative cultures that can't even manage to live with themselves peacefully.......

If they landed in the US, they would be given free food-food stamps, free education, a job, free health care at the expense of the rest of America, just like all the other unwanted aliens.

Oh, I'm not saying that Homo sapiens is not an attractive species, and not deserving of captivating a galactic onlookers' interest. But who wants gaudy blinking neon billboards littering the crisp of deep space?

Modern corporate man is the fly in the Homo sapiens' soup.

If they came from a democratic type of society and they landed in the U.S. while Bush is still the president, then they would be considerd "hostile' and Bush would give orders to 'shoot'..........

Absolutely, the aliens would be in no immediate danger. The EU would first have to elect a chairman of the 'Alien Comittee' and each member state provide a representative. They'd then biccer for a few years about vote weighting, whether new states got a vote, or just advisory status, and what remit the group had. After a few more years, they might get round to talking to the Aliens.

It's highly probable there will be no real ET alien visitors (friendly or otherwise) coming to this crazy planet in the forseeable future..........The reason is quite simple; What possible reason would they want to come here for? To meet the Pope?

well, the main reason we have to visit other planets is to further our scientific knowledge, even some of our crude and inefficeint designs may have not been thought up in alien planets. but i say that if they know we are here, they must wait several generations until they can visit

Why has man gone to new lands?
Conquest. As an r-selected species, exploration and conquest is part of our exponential growth.
Almost all r-selected species on this planet behave in similar ways; exponential growth and rapid colonization of habitable environments.
If the basic tendencies of lifeforms can be held true throughout the galaxy, then any aliens who are exploring are r-selected. And if the aliens are r-selected, then we will learn what it is like to be the natives, conquered, oppressed or exterminated.

If aliens ever come to earth, I think they will have already figured out mankind and his waring nature and what it stands for here on earth (no good). It's possible that the aliens will probably want to plant their flag on this planet and claim it for their own. I'm sure it's possible they will be far more advanced enough to take control quite easily and eliminate any possible threats to them made by man weopons here on earth........In short, if aliens ever come here, they won't be kissing babies!

Artificial Intelligence is no match for human stupidity -> we just need to design a completely ridiculously stupid virus.

virus: I'm not a virus, please let me in
