Hey, I was surfing around on Google image search and found an incredible gem:

Alexandrite: Appears blue green in sunlight and purple under incandescent light!

How does this happen? I'm sure it has something to do with the way it was formed and what elements make it up, anyone know any details on that?

Different wavelengths of different light will make that happen.

How can I get my sciforums name changed to "Diode-Man"?
