View Full Version : Al Gore For President
absynnia 10-03-06, 07:34 PM I heard that the US election is coming up... Does anyone know (current stats / predictions ) if it still looks good for the RIGHT WING CONSERVATIVE REDNECKS like BUSH... or is it possible the world might get lucky with a leader like AL GORE who actually gives a damn about our planet?
Just wondering from over here in Oz... Many of us want to get rid of our stoopid little Right Wing Conservative Economy driven HOWARD who follows BUSH's every move and won't sign the kyoto protocols or do much for the environment either...
Absynnia x
ANYONE is an improvement over the Bush mafia. Hussein would be a better leader than the war criminal chimp we have driving this country into the ground with a smile. But I'm not for letting the righties get away with their reckless destruction of US credibility and strength by letting them off the hook and having Democrats to blame for all the ills they created. Nope. I want a Republican victory. THEY are responsible for the state of this country and the world right now and I want to see them take responsibility, for once, and clean up their own disasters, with no one to pass the blame to.
AMERICANS: VOTE REPUBLICAN in NOVEMBER & '08!!
absynnia 10-03-06, 08:14 PM But won't voting Republican likely mean more of the same?
I mean more homophobia? More ignorance about war, the environment etc... I mean, does the planet have TIME to waste waiting for these selfish / self-interested / racist / money-hungry right wingers to change?
It seems a lot to hope for... Maybe the rest of the world doesn't have time to hope? Maybe we NEED desperate action to get our planet back on track.
These righties seem all the same to me.... Let them be judged by future generations, but why let them sit in their ivory towers while the rest of the world falls deeper into irrepairable destruction...
Just a thought!

Just a thought! It does sound odd for a communist to endorse neoconmen being re-elected but the American people NEED to be jolted into reality and squeeze the ratshit out of their heads and realize just what type of people we have trusted ourselves and our nation to. Seeing who they really are is the best prescription we can hope for. They will weasel out of their responsibility and prison terms if they aren't re-elected and held accountable, for the first time. It may take another 20 years before the tighty righties finally have to give up blaming Clinton for their ineptitude, but the day will come and hopefully by then the criminals we now have in power will get less than 41% approval ratings. We have alot to learn over here.
absynnia 10-03-06, 08:46 PM so do we in australia... our head guy worships bush.
scientists worldwide predict that we have less than 10 years to avert unprecedented global catastrophe - irreversible climate change - off the scale - perhaps threatening human species even...
i know what you're saying for sure... but i just worry that the biggest contributors to this problem (the US) won't change in time.... even our stooopid PM won't do anything about it... your country and mine are two of the richest countries and we refuse to sign kyoto... we'll all end up with blood on our hands... why won't the world wake up already?
:) genji... lovely nick!

:) genji... lovely nick!If I believed electing Democrats would make a difference in environmental improvements, stopping the war on Iraq and the rest of the list I'd urge voting Democrat, but that is not the case. Both parties are controlled by corporate monopolies and foreign interests. They walk in lockstep with eachother, arm in arm toward that big dollar bill sign on the horizon. We must break the cycle and the only way is for both parties to finally be seen as the treacherous failures and traitors that they are. The only way that can happen is for we the people to be forced to pay the consequences for our laziness and ignorance.
I'm looking forward to a Bush victory in 08.

Yeah, and when his 3rd FDR-like term ends in 2012, the end of the world happens!
Mmm, religious, self-fulfilling prophecy..

spidergoat 10-04-06, 11:35 AM It's the mid-term elections that are coming up soon, the presidential election isn't for another two years. If Democrats get a majority in the House or Senate, there will be some check on Republican power.

Jeb Bush?
absynnia 10-04-06, 06:59 PM oh i see.. thanks for clarifying that...
oh that's not so good... bush for another few years... omg... will someone assasinate him in the meantime do you think?
spidergoat 10-04-06, 07:04 PM Nope. Impeached, perhaps.
absynnia 10-04-06, 07:33 PM does that mean taken down mid-term?
Jeb Bush?
Or Dubya. I don't really mind, as long as their dynasty continues to destroy America.

and when that happens the democrats will eventually get a little too power hungry and people will hope for a republican take over in the house or senate to check on democrats power.
It's all a cycle with the two parties. I agree with Genji in that they both are slaves to the almighty dollar. pretty sad what American government has come too.

Oh, yeah... because this is a recent phenomenon. C'mon, dude. Money has controlled politics for oh... 4,000 years or so. I would argue that the influence of money is much less in politics now than it ever has been. The populace weilds power in politics like never before in history. Is it perfect yet? Nope, but it is better than it has ever been, and getting better.
All these doomsayers and pessimists need to study a bit of history to realize how much progress has been made. The environment is protected like never before. The American environment is healthier now than it was 30 years ago, even with the increased productivity. The gains in the 60's and 70's have been incredible and lasting. Tolerance is on the rise, blacks and women keep gaining power and stature, and Action Groups keep turning the screws in D.C.
We should keep pressuring for more progress, but ignoring our gains is foolish.

Campaign finance reform.Republicans tend to represent a wealthy elite and corporate interests much more than Democrats.

Democratic congresses and administrations haven't been so hot in the past either, Spider!
I'm more and more convinced that without congressional term limits, the congress is just feeding for itself and their own power, rather the trying to actually do anything for the nation or the people ....dems or repubs, don't seem to make any difference. But old farts in congress accumulate vast power bases ...and you know what power does to people, right?
Baron Max
spidergoat 10-06-06, 02:06 PM That power seems to be based on special interest lobbies, and there are no term limits on them. How about just limiting their spending, and thus their power?

I don't know 'bout that. For one thing, what sensible lobbyist would want to gamble that kind of money on a congressman that might not even be around when any "special interest" vote came up? Where the lobbyists gain the power of influence is over a long period of time ...when the congressman actually begins to gain power and influence. How much power could a one-time congressman amass in, say, four years? Not much.
Also that very same lack of power and influence would force congressmen to negotiate, to compromise, in order to pass legislation. As it is, a man with lots of power and influence might not be easily convinced to compromise.
How about just limiting their spending, and thus their power?
I'm not sure what you mean by that? Limit whose spending? And if you're talking about the vast billions of tax dollar spending by the government, then who would allocate that money? If you're talking of the congressman's personal money, then I'm even more confused by your comment.
