hypewaders 03-30-03, 04:21 PM Since the invasion began, I have not been able to get any streaming video from al-Jazeera in the US. There are a few paid-access portals, which I have not bothered to save links to.
The sciforums useful links/resources (http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3511) is worth perusing if you haven't already.
Here is the feed (http://www.aljazeera.net/live.asx) I used to use from al-Jazeera before demand apparently exceeded bandwidth, in case you want to try it. IF I ever find a working alternative I'll post it in "useful links", and request anyone who finds such a thing first to please do the same.
Agustus 03-30-03, 04:22 PM I like the cnn perspective on it. They don't leave much out. They mention al the protestors every 5 minutes. Cnn did the right thing in limiting the brutality shown on television. However they do impose some double standards. That is to be expected from anyone offering their take on the situation. We are not yet a world as one.
Asguard 03-30-03, 04:27 PM ok CNN is so cool:rolleyes:
how is it that 50 civillans hit by a bomb is less bad than 4 invading solders blown up in an occupied country??????????????????????????????????????????
even how are 4 solders blown up less bad than god knows how many IRAQ solders defending there own country from the invaders?????????????
REALLY blanced out look:rolleyes:
Agustus 03-30-03, 05:10 PM Ya do you suggest that we leave iraq and betray the suffering people under his regime a second time?
They’ll suffer just a little less under US rule, if the wanton killing of civilians under the guise of liberation is any indicator. Today I read about a US soldier ordered to destroy houses with mortars. He said (paraphrasing) “Gosh, I hope there’s nobody in them.” Bombs away!
Since the US will install another military dictator, presumably post-war Iraq will look a lot like pre-war Iraq. I doubt the difference is worth thousands of deaths and the creation of hundreds of future terrorists who will hunt down Americans across the globe.
Psycho-Cannon 03-31-03, 04:22 AM This is due to the fact they are pissed off that god forbid, they acutally had casualtied in this war *shock horror* and they are blaming their tactic of avoiding Civillian casualties as costing them lives.
Also the Suicide bombing (Who didnt see that one coming) has shaken them as well as such they are official albeit it slowly and quietly abandoning this tactic for the old "Kill em first and let god sort em out" tactic.
Already they have banned all Iraqi vehicles from the road due to the suicide bombing and any vheicle that looks suspect or that it may not stop will be destroyed, that given that many 1000's are being forced to flee cities from bombing and starvation, this is not good.
Also the news picks of them going door to door in towns they have "Taken" worried me.
It showed US Marines kicking in doors and storming in to put families on the floor at gun point to search for Iraqi deserters or Irregulars, several of them kicked in doors and imediatly fired of several rounds "By accident", a little trigger happy, going into Civillian homes like that is bad enough, especially as many Civillians there do have guns, you come in shooting what are they going to do?
Also when one went in and shot the roof as his gun went off kicking in the door an APC behind the house heard the fire and again the news crew showed picks of them putting a few rounds into that said same house.
I never heard about the occupants.
Considering that in Vietnam, males of military age (14 to 40?) were officially not civilians and were killed on sight, the civilian body count will likely be vastly underreported by the US. Not that they’re counting anyways.

I thought you mentioned in a couple of occasions that reading before posting is a healthy exercise?? Well, there been many posts informing members that aljazeera is been disconnected, possibly by hacker attacks (whatever that may be in this case), or by prohibition from server’s owners.
.....I’m sorry Goofy, I just couldn’t resist the invitation!
:p
Psycho-Cannon 03-31-03, 07:44 AM Al Jezerras down.
Conspiracy theorists having a field day given that the Cyber-Terrorism kick the US is on, then fall out with Al-J in undermining their Propoganda war then suddenly poof, down goes Al-J under an attack "So sustained and heavy and Thorough that it had to be done by people with Know how and money" - Quotes Al-J and the providers effected.
Needless to say they are all pointing fingers at the US where as the US are saying any kid these days can get and hold onto 300MB/s of bandwidth for several months and target it straight at AL-J and all their providers no matter how many times they move 0_o.
Someone tell me where this kid lives i want to borrow his link ^_^
