I am having some problems with my new Macbook. I know crazy right. The only problem is the wireless signal, from my house, is at full force for a while and then for like 45 seconds it goes away and then comes back. I have messed around with my system preferences and it still happens. This problem happens the majority of the time. My brother's laptop doesn't do this and his is a toshiba so I am pretty sure it has something to do with my computer. I am really aggrivated with it and I would appreciate any help or advice on how to fix it.

    Thankyou, His Son,

Open Internet Connect, click on airport and show it in taskbar. Then click on Airport in the taskbar and select "Use Interference Robustness".

    That may help

I did that and it is still doing it. Thanks though. Do you think it could be my router or modem?

Some ISPs are not compatible with Airport; that may be your problem.

Have you looked at your other connections within the computer to find out if there are conflicts?

I looked it up. Apparently if you have a LinkSys DI 614 router then a 4x setting is activated by default (under Advanced/Performance)

    Maybe you could check that

You could also try downloading Apple's BroadbandTuner :

Hmm try this, it just worked wonders on my connection

    For Mac OS X:
Close any open Internet applications (such as Web browsers and email). Be sure to save any changes to any open documents.
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Network.
Choose Network Port Configurations from the Show pop-up menu. (In Mac OS X versions 10.0 to 10.1.5, choose Active Network Ports from the Show menu.)
    Deselect the checkbox for AirPort.
    Click Apply Now.
    Reselect the checkbox for AirPort.
    Click Apply Now.
Open a Web browser, and try to connect.

I've always had these intermittent problems with wireless connections. The technology isn't quite up to par yet, in my opinion.

Sorry I've not been around, so I missed helping out here. Seems like S.A.M. did a good job, though!

What type of router is it?

Since it's running for a while, and then shutting off, then coming back, it makes me think that the router is overheating, and restarting.

Has changing the frequency helped? If it's a overheating issue, then I would expect that the problem would remain.
