I think stryder says it best in his chatsoba website, under the links page.

"Sciforums is the internet home away from home," is how it goes, I believe.

I know I've said this before, even if it was a long time ago, but everyone involved here has something special to offer, some remark or advice, a position amongst our ranks. Being one of the sort-of elder sciforumers (even if I am one of its younger members) I think I have to say that it's getting better. It was great before but I think now we have a larger volume of new people registering (the thing at the top of the main screen changes almost every fifteen minutes) we occasionaly get avid followers, take xev, tyler, or cactus for example.

We seriously have something unique among the throngs of internet communities. I beg to ask if there's anything better out there-define better anyway you wish. My friends in the outside world talk about the sciforums all the time, it's just so great. Cactus was quoted as saying 'I've learned more there than I have at school,' once a few days ago (don't look through the database.)

    Later.

Agreed Pollux! And you're certainly an insightful addition to the board! I have to agree, I may not have learnt more factual stuff here (well, maybe I have), but sciforums has DEFINETELY helped my ability to communicate my opinions and thoughts. A very important skill in life.

It also has helped one heck of a lot with my typing skills.

Not to mention that there are some great people in the forums.

You will find some excellent info from links within this site that are given by the members.

Agreed this place is awesome, boredom relief, intellectual playground and place where deep questions can be answered. That and who has the best Avatar

Of course you'd expect me to beg to differ. Just look at my handle. Know I realize I have gotten alot of rap for my handle and I'm not here to debate which is better.

However, I see so many similiarities it's amazing. Both forums have many educated and helping members who really seem to connect and appreciate the community. I seriously think if we combined the sites we'd have the number one forum on the net, not just in popularity, but in quality and true comradery. As pollux has said sciforums.com is a great place and I am happy to see another forum like mine prosper and really connect with it's members. Thats really what it's all about.

So as rivals and friends I will say keep it up!

physicsforums.com is a fine forum in its own right. I was a member there for a little while but did not particpate much. Sciforums had a stronger draw for me. That is not to take away from your site but my personal choice. I find the community here a little more adult on the average. All things change and the tone of a forum does too over time. That draw is still here though.

    Porfiry

    I'm open to ideas.

I requested to you and Wet1 to appoint a moderator to the Physics & Math forum, yet no response or action was taken. If you are sincere to your claim, why don't you at least respond to requests?

Administrators and moderators always respond to requests in other forums. They may not be able to fulfill the request, but at least they respond and explain why.

I understand this is your site and you may do as you wish. If I am being too critical and unappreciative, please say so. I also understand quite well that if I don't like the way a forum is run, I can simply leave and go elsewhere.

    (Q),

I know how it is to try and nurture something upon the internet, and sometimes events can take their toll that just aren't worth explaining to the general public at large who view a site because your too darn busy.

I'm sure Porfiry has noted your request to seek a Moderator, but for a moderator to be chosen candidates would have to be established.

Then on top of that is the hunt for someone that's not biasedly attacking individuals because of who they are, because at the end of the day anything moved is just down to topic re-allocation.

Now I didn't say that to dig at anyone, but just to point out that such biases is what destroys communities.

I'm sure when Porfiry has the time (Since he does have a life, no matter what outsiders might think) then I'm sure it will be sorted post haste.

I thought it was reasonably well known that the last month (and some) I've been working on final exams and, more significantly, a thesis. I just haven't gotten around to dealing with the backlog of work that piled up during that time.

    Your request has been noted.

Asguard: I do believe that the problem is not the lack of a moderator, but that Pofiry is too busy to appoint one.

    *Shrugs*

I would be willing to moderate.
I'm as tired of seeing Nelson's gibberish in Science as Q is.

Oh yes, and I do live here....

*Wanders off to raid the 'fridge, yelling: "Hey Pofiry, got any beer?"*

*Cups hands over mouth and yells*

Hey everybody, Pofiry has real beer!

Seriously, I like light beers. (Not to be confused with 'Lite' beer - the horror, the horror).

    Diet beer.

    *Shudders*

Diet food is an abomination onto the Lord as it is, and they spread such corruption and malady unto unpolluted beer, holy of holies? Behold, it is a work of evil and I am very wroth to see such perversion in the house of America! Yea, I am against Lite beer!

    Sorry.

*Screams "Smite the Amalkalites!" before being dragged away by the men in clean white coats*

Ooops, sorry, off topic. I'll shut up now.
