I don't normally make posts like this but I decided what the hell...I'm 19 right now, I graduated from high school in 2008, and ever since then my life has just been like going downhill with no progress.

Nothing I wanted to do when I was in high school, is on it's way to getting done, and I've re-evaluated my goals a lot.

I'm just like looking for some advice from people who may have been in my shoes. For like a year I've been thinking about a lot of ways to make money so I can like fix up a car, or maybe relocate to a more urban area suitable for finding work....(i live in the middle of nowhere right now)

I've decided to go ahead and get my first job in the next town over doing customer service tech support. I'll have to get a ride with my neighboor until I can afford a car, but the job will pay like 9 bucks an hour, full time. Maybe this way I can at least have some money to my name when I decide to pursue anything.

All throughout high school I wanted to get into showbusiness, such as acting and music......but my financial walls are really starting to close in, and I think I'm gonna switch my full time life goals to learning about information technology and economics and later once my life is more stable maybe go to school for electrical engineering or something.....(seems like the wave of the future...."in demand"....right?).....But before I am making money doing real work, I figure if I make an effort to learn a lot about information technology, economics, investing, etc....and I can get some money out of it....

See, this is what's known in life as a softener upper. It's a bit like being thrown a few body blows before the knockout blow to the mandible.

You'll soon enough look back at the terrible years of your youth when you had fitness, looks, pussy and joi de vive to burn and yearn for those fuckin' terrible times.

    Endeth lesson 1.

Follow your dream. If you really want something you will find a way to go after it and get what you want, no matter what you must do. If you love acting then find ways to get into the profession in any way shape or form. What you do is more important than how much you earn, for the time being, you are young enough to get by on very little while going after your dream.

This is the "earning it" period. All your life you worked towards goals- a high school diploma. Now you got the diploma and there are no goals to reach for anymore.

Stay at your parents' house, make that $9 am hour and put half of it into savings. Work your balls off. Get that car, get a girl and get an apartment with her to where you're both working to pay the rent.

Most sensible advice I can give-

I agree with staying at your Parents and saving but you will need to figure out the best route to your dream job/career.I wouldn't get an apartment or full time girl since it keeps you broke and will shatter your dreams.Remember it takes work to get to the top but you can do it!

Follow your nose, try to do what you want to as you go along. If you are interested in computers, study them. If not, don't. Find something that you enjoy and do that to the very best of your ability. Ignore those who tell you that it can't be done, that you will fail or that there is no future in whatever it is for you, as many folks will poo - poo things that they do not believe they can do so they don't have to see you succeed where they have failed.

Be cautious and frugal, try to be smart and to make well thought out decisions, take advantage of the situations you find yourself in.

Most people don't really know what they want to do when they are young. Many still don't when they are old. What do you love to do? What would you do if money was not an issue? That is what you should be doing. If you need money you could get a job with a company like UPS. They pay well and have good benefits.
I switched careers a couple of times since my teens. Ideally I would play with flowers and critters all day but there is no money in it. I was very ambitious my whole life and invested well. You can do this, too.

the thing is, eventually your dream can be realized but it doesn't always happen fast, concentrate on a paying profession first and work your way towards your goals, the weird thing is as you progress, tastes change and you may find something more to your liking that you first anticipated.
one of the best things you can do though is get to know people that might be tied in with your future goals, because these days more than ever it's all about who you know. what you know will keep you there.

Here's my advice: don't trust people who give out advice.

At the level I'm at now, I think getting advice from anyone who has half an idea about what they're talking about is good enough to throw into a pool labeled "advice from the web" and determine what the common denominator in everyone's suggestion is.

I'll worry about not trusting people when I got something to lose.

I would like to go to school and get a bachelor's degree in economics, but getting up to the point where I'm able to just go to school like that is the hard part. Right now I'm toying around with the idea of taking out loans to pay for it, and researching different methods to pay loans off.

Do people often take out loans to pay for housing, as well as the tuition?

It sounds like you're a bit uncertain about what you want. You wanted to get into show business when you were in high school, but that's changed? Now you're interested in other things. I was in the same position as you when I had graduated high school. I ended up getting educated in information technology, which I don't regret even though I'm not sure it's what I want to do for the rest of my life. It's just useful knowledge because computer knowledge makes you more powerful, regardless of what your profession is.

I'd say, yeah, go to a tech college for information technology. Be practical. Don't spend a shitload on college. It's way overpriced. You don't want to be one of those fools with a useless degree and a hundred thousand of dollars of debt. At a tech college, you'll meet people, get a useful degree, have some time to figure things out and perhaps you'll also get a decent paying job. And they're cheap. I got my associate's degree for 10k, total. I then went on to get my BS. I regret getting my BS because it was expensive and my employers really didn't give a crap about it. Also, I found the quality of the education at the university to be inferior to that which I found at the tech college. Experience is far more important to employers and you get paid in acquiring it.

After you get your degree in two years, you'll already have a real achievement under your belt. You'll be employable, young, not broken with debt and free to do whatever the hell you want.
