I noticed Prince James on the "active users list". I hadn't seen him around for quite a while, so I clicked on his name to PM him. But his profile indicated that he hadn't logged on since 8-18-07. Also, it didn't indicate what he was doing now, as it usually does (ie "viewing human science", or whatever). What's going on?

peace comes to us all. Slowly from within the Earth crust, rises the dust and fills the lungs...pierces the heart....and sends a bullet of truth into our minds. Let it be wise to know that prince_james would not be forgotten in the desolate overshadowed realms of sciforums. Let there be light cast upon the memory of this member, for silence eternal takes all within its grasp.

Well, there is a possibility that some of the forums is pieced together via Cache's. The main reason that ISP's use Cache's is to attempt to keep their networks fast while not drawing on too much bandwidth, this is why on some sites you can end up with stale content unless you actually press the REFRESH/RELOAD button which sends a Refresh request. The system is then told to get a new version of the site.

That's the only guess I can offer, since the user actually logging in will have the date logged. The only time the date would be inaccurate is if the forum database was repaired with an earlier backup version, but to my knowledge there has been no need for that to occur.

When you say "active users list", do you mean the members list or the "who's online" list?

People stay on the members list unless they are banned. But they should only appear on "who's online" if they have logged in recently (within perhaps the last 30 minutes).

The list at the bottom of the screen that show's who is online right now. I should have said, "currently active users".
