Sorry if this is in an incorrect place...move if needed.
I just downloaded and purchased a license for Acquisiton P2P. It starts up and says "connecting" but never does. Is there anyone out there that knows what is wrong? I've found nothing in the prefs or anywhere else and there seems to be no help section on the website......I thought paying the fees would make it better, not malfunction....anyone? help appreciated.
thanks.
there is a special Acquisition forum here -> http://www.sciforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=72

I'm guessing your problem is probably Firewall related, unfortunately I don't have any i-Mac experience to be able to debug it, however if it's anything like a PC's setup the problem is probably either to certain ports not being "Binded" too.
(Bind is when a port in the TCP/IP protocol is opened on the client machine you're on for "Bi-Direction" transfers)
If it's not the ports on your computer, then it's possibly the ISP since they have a habit of nowadays blocking "default" port assignment of P2P networks.
Lastly it could just be a problem with DNS resolving, this is where an IP address on the network is either resolved to a Domain name, or a Domain name goes through a reverse lookup to get an IP address. (There is also the ARP/RARP for MAC addresses in conjunction with IP)
It's possible that a lengthy delay in attempting to resolve such information is causing the systems that the programming is attempting to connect to to "Ignore" the request. (This is a common error that causes webpages to stop loading when the request times out etc)
I would suggest looking through the Acquisition Forums and if any, Documentation for information on Network Troubleshooting.
The Link Avatar provided should get you there.

Why would anyone buy a license for P2P again?
because its illigal not too.......altough buying the software and the downloading a s*it load of MP3's are warez isnt going to change anything....

i bought the license because somebody worked hard to make it...although i'm pissed it won't work no matter what i do.

dmcm01: for me it was more about supporting and recognizing the work of a programmer...i agree it's a revolving ethic of sorts.
also, if I could find a free one that works properly, i would return to full on high seas pirate. Any ideas?

Any ideas?
Yeah. Post a thread in the xlife forum that Avatar linked you too. See, this whole forum is owned and run by the guy that programs Acquisition, but the acquisition (and other projects) are limited to the xlife forums.
You'll get answers down there. I've never tried Acquisition (Don't have a mac) but it works for plenty of people, so I'm sure it can work for you too.
