    Imagine you spend two years of your life writing a novel. Then, the day after you publish it, somebody prints off 100,000 copies and starts selling them, keeping all the money for themselves and giving none to you.

    Horrible idea, abolishing intellectual property rights.

    Not only would this be a violation of our rights, it would also result in a severe decline in the amount of intellectual works in a society. Why would someone seek work as an author or musician, for example, if any book they write or song they sang could be stolen by others?

    in some cases such as the recent Genome fiasco that is ongoing i would agree but as a whole no, they are there for a reason after all.
