What the hell!
I just looked at the active members and I noticed that there was something called a 'Google Spider' and then I saw that there were more pages...and all these spiders and guests appeared and OMG!!
Help...me...
Well I just answered my own question...I had it searching 'All'
May I ask why the hell such a feature is even there?
You have seen IT! The BIG secret! Internet is full of SPIDERS
The TERRIBLE Google spiders
SOON they will take over
soon you will SCREAM
I think I already did...check out the first word of the thread title
ach, so you DID
now they will COME
and suck YOU dryyyyyyyyy :D
That may be so...but what the frell are they?
I dunno, I bet crazymikey knows ;) :D

oh, if you about the real world spider bots, then they're probably not autonomous search and destroy systems, just search and collect systems ;) , bring back info to google
So they're mutants that want to suck my bones yet they come in peace...you need to get your ideas straight mister
airavata 05-15-04, 08:23 AM How do we know youre not a spider? :bugeye:
Dreamwalker 05-15-04, 08:40 AM For a spider he´s talking too much. :D

I wish I could say I understood that
that was a way to point to a possibility that you stand behind all these spiders and must be elimenated to secure the net //evil grin
If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were coming on to me

The...umm...background doesn't match. Its obvious that spider is a project illusion designed to draw attention away from the REAL spiders. I'm not fooled by your petty parlour tricks...
invert_nexus 11-19-04, 03:44 PM Ha!
Was just checking out Who's Online and I saw a Google Spider sending a thread to a friend.
Isn't that odd behavior for a spider? Is that how they index the site?
I think these spiders are gaining in intelligence every page they index.
And the thread he was sending was Limits to Thought. As though he were sending a thread about the limitations of the human intellect to a friend to further the conspiracy.
Beware the spiders, my brethren.
They come for you in the night.
holy... crap
load you EMP grenades, mates!

Maybe it was reporting us to homeland security. What was the thread?
guthrie 11-19-04, 04:37 PM I think I know what googles big secret is. Its trying to grow a software AI. The spiders are part of it.
(And someone mentioned EMP which reminded me of the huge gap in the 3rd matrix film. When all the machines swarm into the docking bay, all you have to do is have someone sitting at the bottom with an EMP generator, and all your electronics faraday caged.)

I doubt the "spiders" are hurting us or the server.
§outh§tar 11-19-04, 09:18 PM The forum regresses from its motto.
I don't know why, but the idea of these "spiders" seems ultra cool. The idea conjures up images of some Matrix-esque intrigue.
Or are they ad bot type crapazoids?
Err... whats a spider chaps?
The result of heavy drinking I think.
vslayer 11-20-04, 05:16 AM they are most likely american spy bots, waiting for one of us to jump out and announce the date of our next attack, YEA IM ONTO YOU!!!!!
Closet Philosopher 11-23-04, 08:43 AM I've fuond this morum many time on Google searches (that's how I founjd out about it to start with). That makes me a Spider. I know where you live.
invert_nexus 11-23-04, 11:24 AM Err... whats a spider chaps?
A Google Spider is just their way of indexing the site for google searches. They crawl around the web going from link to link. The number of links to a page is how precedence is determined on the search. This is how "Miserable Failure" became directed towards the George Bush web site. And "Weapons of Mass Destruction" ended up pointing at that 'weapons of mass destruction not found' site. It's called Googlebombing.
Anyway, the spiders make all that possible. I've also seen Ask Jeeves spiders and a few others.
But, I just found it odd that this spider was "sending a thread to a friend". I thought it was strange behavior for a spider. I suppose it's basically just another page and the spider probably just followed a link to it just like any other.
spider(bots) have trouble indexing dynamic pages(like forums) thats why you can set tags in the pagesource that tells the spiders what to do, you can even tell them to go away and never comeback by setting a time far out in the future...if i remember correctly :)
Errrr.. would somebody tell me in simple terms what a spider is please?
ElectricFetus 11-23-04, 03:05 PM a seach bot.
