I believe as a United States citizen, that a new amendment should be made in order to bring back integrity, honor, trust, and loyalty to our government at both state, and national levels.

I propose very harsh punishment toward individuals working in the government who represent citizens of the United States. I believe accepting of any kind of bribery, lobbying, or even threats should be punishable by life in prison due to unpatriotism, and lieing to those you represent.

If you are chosen to represent people, it is your duty to make sure there word, thoughts, worrys, and ideas and only them are represented. If a representative is not doing this, then he is abusing or neglecting his position and should be dismissed, or jailed, depending on the affence.

I believe this would be a big step toward fixing our government system. With this can come better representation, and more motivation into making America what the citizens of America want, and not just the presidents, or governments.

This proposal would have to be a nation wide idea, with many Americans wiling to back it up. The media would have to play a big role in this, but I do not see, if the corrext strings were pulled, why this could not happen. With the nation on this ideas side, the government would have no choice but to comply, or risk a revolution.

I know this idea has obvious flaws that I fail to see. So please tell me them, then after I can see if this idea is worth keeping...

I disagree highly with this part, punishable with life in prison? If you ask me that seems way too harsh of a punishment in the name of patriotism.

Perhaps a fine, some prison time, and some withdrawn feedoms (at least for lobbyists) seem like a good punishment.

Unfortunatly, I believe there is not enough "flexibility" in the government to allow us to have these freedoms.

Once again, these punishments are too harsh for such an offence.

I'm not sure, it just looks like your making harsher punishments rather than fixing the system.

I'm leaning towards a revolution to rebuild this government.

Preferably into an ancient Athenian Democracy-Socialism hybrid, which would include the abolishing of the executive branch.

Bribery and threats are already illegal. Disallowing lobbyists would not require a constitutional amendment, they could just pass a law.

And lobbyists could sue the US claiming that the law violates their constitutional rights to lobby.

This harsh punishment is justifiable due to the amount of trust and importance on the representative. Also the sentence will be a max of life. How ever many years the representative actually gets will be deemed by the court. Depending on the seriousness of the affence, he or she could get as little as a fine, and no time and jail.

There should be no room for neglagence or corruption in our government. We need a tight, fair, non-corrupt government that acts on the wills of the people and not themselves.

I feel these harsh terms will discourage corrupt individuals from doing acts against the will of the people.

P.S. Where in the constitution does it say anything about lobbying being a right?

Please leave opinion out of this. I agree, It is my opinion to say there is none, but my opinion; in this case needs to stay to help people agree with the my idea a change needs to be made.

Please, lets stay on topic though. I need my essay to be proven wrong, or incorrect and scrutinized so that I can fix it, and there will be no debate in the end for anyone to argue besides my opinion vs theres.

I think we should go back to public executions for crooked politicians myself. I would love to see Ws severed head bounce down a flight of stairs while his splattering blood covers a mob of rejoicing citizens, but hey, thats just me... heh! http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/happy/happy0065.gif (http://www.lawyer-solicitors-uk.co.uk)
