Thats it 3 lines , one line for each young US soldier killed , and we don't even get to know their names.

How much coverage did Britney get today for buying a pregnancy test kit?
Sleeping With the Enemy: What's Britney Doing Now?
Britney Spears Denies Pregnancy Rumors As Concerns For Her ...
Britney pregnancy rumors are a hoax

This media helped construct the LIE that hoodwinked the citizenry into approving into what led to this illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq .The media traded the blood of these young Americans for the personal gain of US corporations . You must now see the contempt the ruling class has for you , you are expendable human dross .

You know... if you don't get your news from TV, Brittany really falls off your radar. I have no clue what she's up to (beyond an occasional viewing of "The Soup").

The Washington Post prints a two-page spread with a color photo (if available) of every casualty, name, age, military ID, and city. They do it whenever there are enough to cover two pages.

When the first casualties came in and they first started doing this, I looked at every photo and read the caption. Me, an unreformed "peacenik." I did that for two years. I don't remember exactly when I stopped but I remember why. It imparted a mixed sense of grief and anger and I already had enough of that in my life from other sources.

But also because I began to feel a bit of anger for the soldiers (and sailors and marines). Yes, the first batch had been hoodwinked, fooled by a treasonous president who was busy protecting his hand-holding buddies in Saudi Arabia, the ones who were far more responsible for 9/11 than the poor people of Afghanistan or Iraq. But by now everybody has enough information to know that Bush is a traitor (or at the very least a victim of pre-senile dementia, as covered at length on another thread) and that this so-called "war" is wrong. The people who lead the soldiers to their deaths know it and it's difficult to believe that the soldiers themselves don't know it. It's a violation of so many principles, and even some laws, and probably the Constitution if anybody bothers to read it any more.

So why are these kids still over there allowing themselves to be massacred? It was established at Nuremburg, in a treaty that the U.S. is a party to, that every soldier has a higher duty than obedience to his commanding officer: he must refuse to obey illegal orders. By now they all know their orders are illegal; they all get to read the news and they all get e-mail from home.

So why are they willing to die for this asshole?

I don't hate Bush sympathizers so much that I would advocate rounding them up and killing them. Hell, I'd probably risk my life to save one from a burning building if I had the opportunity. I'm a civilized man. But if Bush sympathizers love the brain-dead bastard so much that they're willing to go out and put themselves in mortal danger for him, while violating the fundamental rules of civilization and turning America into a monster that everybody is starting to hate for good reason, how am I supposed to feel?

The first batch was more of a natural out pouring of patriotic fervor , an event which in their eyes was to even the score .
Now your sounding good , people dont know it , but Americas strategic planners most valuable ally is Saudi Arabia their co-conspirator .
People are simply sheep who must have someone to lead them around , and tell them what to do . Individuals who think outside the circle in our "democratic" societies are trampled under .
“ Through clever and constant application of propaganda people can be made to see paradise as hell, and also the other way around, to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise. ”
    - Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf
At the moment the current crop of US soldiers are coming from the lower economic stratum of US society , so Bush supporters feel safe . When this war turns and comes home a little too close , as in the Draft , ideas will change , as in the Vietnam era .
Well for one thing Im glad their are individuals such as yourself who can seriously question events in your own nation .

Fraggle Rocker, I'm very ignorant on issues like this but could you please expand on this for me ( refusing to obey illegal orders).

Am I right to believe that the soldiers could refuse direct orders and not face court marshall ?

they would proably be court marshalled but then they would use that as there defence. Then the court would have to establish under international law, US law and the laws of War is the war was legal.

would be an interesting case actually. Would probably end up in the high court

The media is saying little about Iraq because things are going so well there. The surge worked, violence is way down, Iraqi forces are doing well in taking over security, and it's improving daily. This goes against the drive-by media's attempt to destroy W. They want us to lose Iraq. They hate him that much.

Can we complain about the media not paying attention to success though? It's not sensational, it's not shocking, so it's not good quality "news." Progress in Iraq means slow and quiet. What the hell is CNN going to show? How many times can they report about "calm" before the viewers tune out? And I think that not over-touting progress is a good idea.

And besides, you can complain about liberal media bias and bad weather all you want. It won't make either change.
