Want some answers about Bush's lies about the Iraq war? Well too bad, we'll never get them. But as a token gesture several members of congress are sponsoring a letter to be delivered to the white-house demanding a few answers, especially in regard to the "Downing Street Minutes". They're also looking to sign a bunch of American citizens names to this letter to add to the outrage. I've put my name to it, and I urge you to read it over and consider doing the same. http://www.johnconyers.com
i'm not American. I couldn't care less. Out of interest, why do you? What are you going to prove/do by signing this anyway?
Any action, any resistance, any outcry is better than simply sitting down and throwing up our arms and saying there's no point in even trying.
but why is that? are you 100% sure you are correct? and not to put a downer on you, but it won't change anything. will it?
It shows you're a patriot and will let the higher ups know you are so a few hitmen can be sent to your home, heh. - N
Yes, there's always that. I'll bet that right now I'm on some hit list for a dose of "compassionate conservatism" and I can expect a task-force for that purpose to find it's way into my bedroom in the middle of the night and "disappear" me. Thank you, Patriot Act!
The memo is 100% authentic. It contains statements that confirm the UK knew that Bush intended to go to war in Iraq before the reasons were found to justify it, and that the facts were being tailored to fit the policy, in other words, Bush lied. The purpose of John Conyers' letter [correction] is to demand answers from George Bush. In 2006, there might be enough democrats elected to the house to impeach him. This is the beginning of that process.
The entire war has always been about oil. Not democracy for Iraq, not WMD, it is about oil. And don't give me that crap about " Saddam gassed his own people". He did it with the chemicals we had sold him to use on Iranians. And those rape rooms and mass graves, some of you always mention, they are in other countries too. But we don't care about them. If the only natural resource in Iraq was broccoli do you really think we would be there? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,158603,00.html
Yeah, but it was not about securing oil for the American people, just stealing oil and rebuilding profits for Bush's friends.
Haha your like one of those nerds who is all like no way dude I could totally get a girlfriend if I wanted to but it's just dumb.
Regardless of result the effort is a noble one. Any citizen who takes up the mantle of improving this country as they see it should be I accept as my brother. Ideals are important, regardless of what they may be, and complacency hurts everyone.
George Bush has taken up the mantle of improving this country as he sees it. Why haven't you accepted him as your brother? Oh, I get it, you only accept those as brothers who you agree with. So much for "ideals are important, regardless of what they may be". Maybe you should have said "Ideals are important as long as they are the same as mine".
Sounds good enough for me. If someone in power holds ideals that involve lying to us to go to war and needlessly cause the deaths of hundreds of thousands if not millions, then I certainly have no reason to respect that person. Hitler may have thought he was doing right, but that doesn't mean that I need to respect him.
So, if someone has a different idea of what is right, then they are automatically wrong because only you know right from wrong. That about it?
Wow. Where did you get any of this from what I said? The point, which sailed clear over your head, is that Americans disagree all the time and that is one of the things that makes the nation strong. We all love our country, we just disagree on what is better for it.
Correct on what? The validity of the evidence upon which the declaration of quilt that has been placed on the Bush Administration and British government? If this is so, then there is no true need for anyone who has signed the letter to be "correct." Even though Conyers asserts the validity of the Memo/Memos through his tone, the letter inturn merely asks President Bush to answer up to some questions and concerns of the citizens and 89 Congresspeople regarding the Downing Street Minutes. In all simplicity, this act is people going "what is this and what is going on here? Answer me". It may not change anything at all.... this reminds me of a story. Here's an excerpt: I'm not signing the letter because I feel I'll make a damn bit of difference: I don't think I will to be honest. My conscience, however, will be settled knowing that I did something to act upon my judgement. And yes, I do plan on doing more than simply applying my name to a letter to do something about what I feel is objectionable in the world. And something is everything within my power.
Stokes: "Wow. Where did you get any of this from what I said?" Your post appeared to me to be in agreement with the first post in this thread from an apparent Bush hater. My point was that people see different ways to improve the country and just because you disagree with their philospphy is no reason to hate them. Stokes: "The point, which sailed clear over your head, is that Americans disagree all the time and that is one of the things that makes the nation strong. We all love our country, we just disagree on what is better for it. " I see where your post did not contain any agreement with the Bush hater, and I do agree with it especially because you do not go down the hatred road as others do.
Alright, then I guess we agree. BTW I'm not a Bush hater, at least not compared to most of the people who post here. Nor am I a fan. Hate leads to the dark side.
