Socialized medicine is bad news. Cockroaches crawling on operating tables during surgery. One operating table so old that it collapsed with an unconscious patient on top. The patient survived only because the doctor caught him before he fell too hard. High-pressure hoses exploding and injuring nurses. A woman having a miscarriage in the bathroom of the hospital's emergency room.
These reports were from an Australian senior orthopedic specialist who finally quit after 16 years in disgust with the conditions of a hospital.
The hospital tried to clean/fix things up before an inspection but they were busted. Government healthcare sucks.
Procedures already cost $400 more than other hospitals and overcrowding/ bed availability is a continuing problem. The hospital is way over budget even though it got a $9.5 million increase this year. Almost $10 million and no good coming from it. That's government for you.
Aren't you excited about government health care coming to America?

I am continuously entertained by you.
I personally support health care for everyone, and I'd be willing to pay a bit more in taxes to do so. I could definately benefit from some sort of health insurance because I'm incapable of affording some decent coverage as it is.
Government healthcare sucks. Everytime the gov gets involved in your business/life it's bad news. What part of that don't you get?
We already give free healthcare to the losers in this country. Hillary just wants us to pay more. :(
And she wants to be in control. :(
There have been three cases of women having miscarriages in hospital waiting rooms here in the last year or so. There have been deaths due to burst appendix because people couldn't get in to see a doctor in time. One of my brother in laws almost died from a burst appendix. He spent 8 hours in terrible pain in the hospital waiting room. When my sister complained about the long wait for the second or third time the nurse threatened to have them kicked out. Our health care system in Canada is disgusting.

and what would you rather? you go to a hospital, pay up your next 10 years wages, go straight into surgery for a broken arm while someone who cant afford healthcare bleeds to death in the waiting room? there is a system in place to ensure that those with the most urgent needs get dealt with first, but there simply arent enough staff, and someone is going to have to wait. the only thing private healthcare would do is indebt you for life because you got lifesaving surgery, and give priority to those with the most money.

Please move to politics.
Also, some health care beats no health care. Most civilized countries have systems that ensure everyone gets health care not just emergency care. Are you excited about paying out the ass to make for-profit hospital owners and insurance companies rich?

The issue, unfortunately, is more complicated than that, Spider. I have no idea what Hillary's plan is. I don't care. What I do know is that when I lived in England, I was shocked by the system there. My friend's son had to wait 6 weeks to get his appendix removed. He had no pain meds or anything. Do I like the current American system? Nope. Do I want something like what England has to come here? Nope.

Sure non-emergency surgery might take some time to schedule in England, but no one goes bankrupt due to a health condition. I don't think Federal government run health care will ever happen in the US, but we could make sure everyone gets health insurance, and that the insurnace companies don't have control over health decisions.
