View Full Version : A Challenge
Buffalo Roam 07-29-06, 09:33 AM Here is a challenge, to all the thinkers and none thinkers and I will pay for a Steak dinner for you if you can provide proof positive that the Israelis are deliberately Targeting Civilians in Lebanon, documentation is required, opinion is not fact. Military Orders are.
spuriousmonkey 07-29-06, 09:38 AM Military orders are facts?
Might they be classified?

documentation. it is just as valid as FOXNEWS, whom you get your information from...it is just as fair and balanced.
where is my steak, old man?

where does it say that israel is deliberately targeting civilians ? it seems more to me that hizballah is targeting people without notice.
redarmy11 07-29-06, 04:56 PM I think it's obvious that they're deliberately not not targetting civilians. Which amounts to the same thing. It's also obvious that they've deliberately targetted civilian areas which, again, amounts to the same thing.
Plenty of chips, please (or fries as you no doubt call them). When do I fly?
Buffalo Roam 07-29-06, 05:11 PM I agree Israel is not targeting civilians, that in not the bet the bet is to prove that they are, and if you want a steak anyway fly on over I can put you up, and show you some really fine dinning, and great beer, and one of the meals would be a fine Bar-BQ, love that Texas cooking, warning be prepared for some spice I make a sauce that would make the Devil, himself sweat.
G. F. Schleebenhorst 07-29-06, 05:25 PM Targetting civilian buildings is the same as targetting civilians.
Sending flyers that say "leave your homes because we're going to blow them up" and then denying all responsibility for the resulting civilian deaths is as bad as, say, nuking 300,000 women and children on the grounds that if you didn't they might attack you with pointy sticks later.

you fail too. it is true that israel is targeting civilian areas but only because hizballah acts in such places, knowing that israel would prefer not to bomb civilian structures. but actually israel has no choice, since hizballah is also firing its rockets from there.

1. Buffalo decides, not you. I've already been invited and await my plane tickets.
2. The fact that Israel is aiming to destroy Hezbollah doesn't preclude the possibility that they're also targetting civilians in order to achieve their aim when, as you say, they inhabit the same area. Do you see?
True - the only fact arguing against that possibility is that if they really wanted civilian casualties, they could have caused tens of thousands by now, instead of mere hundreds.
Seems a bit unlikely.

or calculated for a specific response..either way, the situation is idiotic on both ends.

i'm sorry. the rules say you must give us some proofs. i guess you have a hard time finding them.. :p

well that sounds strange, and also israel could have killed thousands by now.

Hizbollah is a civilian entity, not a National Militia entity.
Damn right -- their civilian asses are being targeted.
spacemansteve 07-30-06, 11:20 AM Mr G:
In my opinion you're the closest to actually being right so far :p
The reason why the Geneva convention gets thrown out the door in conflicts such as this, because there is no real definition of a "Terrorist". In this case we have people who look like civilians, act like civilians, do everything normal civilians do, but then go out and fire rockets at another country. Once finishing that they then return to their civilian area's and act like normal civilians again. Are they combatants? well according to the Geneva Conventions, once they stop openly displaying arms, they are not. So when Israel, bombs/shoots/disintegrates a civilian, who 15 minutes ago walked away from a truck with Katyusha rockets on them, They've just violated the Geneva Convention...
Good point. There needs to be another convention outlining the rules on dealing with these individuals. They choose to be combatants at their own will, and when it suites them, else they are just normal civilians.
Arquibus 07-30-06, 08:51 PM There only "terrorists" if they are against you. If they are not opposed to you, they are "freedom fighters". And if crimefighters fight crime, and firefighters fight fire, what exactly do freedom fighters fight?
