Jews, Zionists or Israelis are not rounding up people in camps to die. They are not committing genecide. Perhaps the lesson they learned was that if you want to maintain a cultural identity then you need to defend it sometimes militarily.

It seems to me that he took considerable care to avoid gassing National Socialists, implying that there was some discrimination operating.

Death is not such a big deal to them because they actually believe that people's "souls" continue to live after their hearts and brains stop working and turn into compost. It's easier to be talked into not feeling bad about teachers, artists, peace advocates, office workers, firefighters, and little children being torn to shreds if you can hang onto a twisted belief that they are actually still alive and are off in some fantasy land being reunited with their loved ones and chatting with their "god."

Whereas for most Jews, the afterlife is not a major consideration in their day-to-day business. Sure, the bible says that the dead will be raised again, but that's far off in the future and dependent on many things that might or might not happen fifty thousand years from now or whenever.

So as a practical matter, they generally believe that this life and this world is all there is for the long, long, foreseeable future so everybody had better make the most of it. Death is so close to forever that it might just as well be forever. They believe they'll be judged by the people who outlive them, not their god. A good Jew wants to be remembered fondly, not cursed, and does not want his children and grandchildren to live in the eternal posthumous shadow of his shame. So he respects human life, rather than regarding it as an inconsequential transition to something better.
