I was a big fan of his ... before his bungling, sometimes bizarre campaign began. With this move, he's beginning to stir me from jaded ambivalence to outright dislike. This is almost as bad as Edwards using his wife's cancer to generate donations.

As the media keeps showing us the planes hitting the towers occasionally to remind us of that day also. So who the worse, one who uses it to get donations or the other who uses it to keep showing us what we already know or rubbing it in like salt into a wound?

    We shouldn't be surprised

I can. His behavior, as mayor, in the Drug War was reprehensible. On his watch all sorts of bizarre things happened. The cops did no-knock raids against potheads, citing them for "violating the quality of life in New York"; they used to do round-ups of suspected potheads, throwing them in jail for seventy-two hours and then releasing them without charge in order to simply disrupt their lives and livelihoods until the courts told him to knock it off; he once told this hilarious story about how his security detail was incapable of running down suspects who were allegedly stoned at the time; in the wake of the Dorismond shooting, he opened and released to the public the deceased's sealed juvenile file in order to justify the police.

One of my favorite Giuliani stories, from Richard Belzer on Real Time With Bill Maher:

Anyway ... Rudy knows that 9/11 is the best thing that ever happened to him. That pretty much makes him the luckiest person in all of New York City that day, with the possible exception of the guy who didn't make it to the office because his wife's cooking made him shit himself on the subway two stops away.

    Scumbag opportunist.
    A politician to the core.

When are we finally going to get sick of politicians and start hiring public servants?

I don't think it'll ever happen that way. The question is how to transform our politicians into the public servants they're supposed to be. There is a myth about public office, and that myth has to be shattered so that the corrupt cannot exploit it as they do. The disingenuous forfeit the very trust they demand.

Mayor Stack is public servant, the amount of $ he invested in Union City in his term...is beyond comprehension

Someone should send him the number of 9/11 victims in pennies.

    True.
Stack has done a great deal to turn Union City around.
Cory Booker is also a great public servant with fantastic, new ideas and what is, unfortunately, a novel approach to crime - unfortunate that it is novel, because it makes sense.

Unfortunately, it seems that once you get beyond the level of the Mayoral office, you then must become a politician to keep your job (withe VERY few exceptions - Bernie Sanders, for one).

I am actually considering buying a place in Union City.
I think property value will rise there a great deal over the next 5 - 10 years (partially due to Stack's efforts).
If my wife goes to grad school in NYC, and I can talk her into it, we will be neighbors.

I'm a Guiliani supporter and was not happy to see the OP. However, since you didn't provide a link and I hadn't heard this story anywhere else, I was a bit suspicious. So I did a google search and this is what I came up with:
So it's two guys with no connection to the campaign. Big deal.

    ...or a back-pedaling politician.
I suppose it comes down to a question of how much you trust Rudy.
