17 year old suicide attempt

A 17 year old girl that is an acquaitance of my wife's has overdosed on Lithium. She ingested 120 300mg pills, then went to sleep. She went to work the next day after school and collapsed. She is on life support, in renal failure, and it looks like a couple of other organs are seriously damaged.

Overdose, as a method of suicide, sucks. Too much of anything can kill you, but too much of anything will seriously fuck you up, permanently. There is a chance she may live. This sounds horrible, but for her sake, I hope she doesn't. She has damaged her body beyond repair. Obviously this subject tugs at me on a personal level. How horrible for her, and her family and friends. My mind shies away from the entire thing.

I heard that in universities, the kids who get real depressed usually jump off some high areas...some survive and after going through rehab still jump again because this time they are in wheelchairs, after the second jump they are nearly dead but still manage to stay alive, and thats when life usually departs from them after a while

dunno. She's not conscious/comatose. Lots of tubes involved.

Mr ham i know what you mean. Pacetamol is the most common method people choice for suicidle overdoes. Sadly they dont seem to know that its not like morphine which kills by depressing the respitory system but rather it destroys the liver and is more like death from chronic achole abuse. When i was doing placements we had to transfer a 15 year old girl and her mother from one of the outer suburban hospitals to the womens and kids.

The mother sat there trying to comfert this girl and bring her out of her depression but the whole way the 2 ambos and i were sitting there knowing that there was nothing the hospital could do. With those levels of panadoll early admistration of charcole is the ONLY cure and it had already absorbed. It was just to late, the girl would be dead, in massive pain with in a week

 

Why must you be so selfish to insist that everyone lives rather than ending their misery simply because your life is one that is so easy by comparison that you could never imagine the struggles these children and adults must or may face?

Lemmings are more moral than American women. Yes, Russians do soicide for hobby, but all their other activities are moral.

 

What you are describing is not true. It is only a possibility.

 

Goodness, I am so sorry to hear that. May God be with you throughout this ordeal, Lithium is wicked dangerous, I've had a close family member overdose a couple times to commit suicide.

 

That's very sad, I hope she'll be alright, and hope things will get better for her. Btw, is her renal failure caused by her suicide attempt, or the other way around?

 

laladopi, inzomnia-Thanks for your expressions of real human sympathy. As far as I know, she was in perfect health prior to od'ing. I am of course, a third-hand source, reporting things told to my wife. I think it's sad, though. What can a 17 year old have to despair about so badly to want to kill themselves? How horrible is this if she was merely trying to "get attention"?

Sorry to hear about this Ham. I hope she pulls through and has a different outlook after that. You, her and her family have my condolences.

 

That is not true for I have dated Russian women and they are as immoral as any other American woman. If you don't know that then you don't date Russian women very much. :itold:
