They slaughtered cows who couldn't walk (one sign of mad cow disease) and used the meat. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! It goes back two years. http://www.reuters.com/article/topN...?feedType=RSS&feedName=topNews&rpc=22&sp=true Another good reason not to eat beef, I guess.
When I worked at a meat packing plant, several reps from the USDA were always there. Also a vet. Where the hell were these people when they were killing these down cows?
i love beef, roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, veg, gravy, the fat on the beef made into crakling! can't beat it
I've seen/read a few more stories on this. Apparently the cows were "prodded" to stand to pass inspection. I just think the whole thing is hideous. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
No Sandy, it's your Christian duty to eat beef; Genesis 1:26 "Then God said, ‘Let us make humankind* in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle"
In recent years they have taken out the inspectors and gone to a program of self inspection. Producers are now trusted to comply with laws and USDA inspectors are no longer resident in the plants. Good news is that mad cow disease can only be spread if contaminated with the neural spinal material. And they are not supposed to be using neural spinal material. http://www.on-site-services.org/file.php/1/Reference_Materials/Articles/food_production/f04.htm
phlogistician, why are you picking on Sandy? She's right, it is horrible. When I worked in a meat packing plant, they had to make sure the cows were healthy by the vet. Those that weren't were quarantined, for exactly the reason she said. Every once in a while we would get a hunk of meat through with a huge puss pocket in it. In that puss pocket there was usually a needle. Cows don't always hold still during vaccinations and sometimes the needle breaks off. Those cows are usually (not always) limping so they need to be pulled out of the line and checked out. If a puss pocket was found, the line stopped, the line was cleaned, knives/saw blades were pulled, the meat was pulled etc. I don't think this happened at this factory. Who wants to eat their hamburger??
The spinal cord is mushy and it gets on the meat. Its easy to remove, but it does tear. self inspection??? Idiots.
Because that's how he and some other liberals around here communicate. They pick at you like a mosquito. They nag and whine. They personal attack. They don't know how to communicate like civil human beings so they resort to their liberal bs. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

'Sandy', I'm merely pointing out your hypocrisy, when you say 'another good reason not to eat beef' when your own God put cattle on the planet for you to have dominion over. Nowhere did God say you had to treat these animals a certain way. There is no commandment about how to treat livestock!
Just knock it off. We all know what you're doing: trolling and goading. Stop it. Now. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Not this time. This time it was home-grown and stupidly allowed to enter the food supply. Probably a liberal who did it though, so you are close. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
so you're saying Christians can't be vegetarians. And Christians can torment animals. what a bunch of crap. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
