So are there any sites out there that predict the future evolution of computers, AI and robots between now and 50 years that are at least somewhat scientifically supported?
Not about computers, but the media, but none the less interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xj8ZadKgdC0
Computer future is easy to extrapolate. Robots are not. That is because, material science has not progressed very far like we still use boilers to push prime movers and make electricity the old fashioned way. Todays Robots use servos, wires, pulleys, gears. Is there a better method? Sensor technology is definitely moving towards nano technology....
Software is nothing but logic...no matter what you call. Those who remember the old mainframe, can now see that its structure is coming back. The Vitual Machine, the cloud computing and server farm computing all points to a mainframe structure connected to a bunch of thin clients across intranet and internet. The TCP/IP packet structure can change, it could get smart as to traffic and even content...and so on. Our latest in OS is Java machine, Linux, BSD Unix etc which is old stuff. The latest software is based on rules and model engines. While it will take 20 to 30 years for the software to evolve...where it will evolve to...we can extrapolate. What we can not say is the nuts and bolts of it. Just like we can say what a lawyer can do, after getting a law degree but not exactly how the person's brain works. S, it would be an adaptive logic engine....not sure if i made myself clear...
I understood half of it and liked it very much. But I'm somewhat confused abouth TCP/IP getting smart? Isn't this yust data transfer with verry little processing
