In the year 1900 Hilbert wrote a lettre with the mathematical problems that should be solved in the 20th century. Now, 100 years later, a mathematical organisation has done that again. See http://www.claymath.org/prize_problems
What's more, you can win 1 million dollar if you solve one of the problems!
Now that's a nice way to become rich, isn't it?
But, unfornutately, when i checked out the site and the problems, not a single one looks very excilarating!
Any of you guys have an idea why this is 'hot' mathematics?
Well, reading the problems does have the benefit of feeling modest.
